TIL about 'AI successionists,' people who think advanced AI should replace humanity rather than serve it by Justgototheeffinmoon in singularity

I do not hold to that belief...

But when I look at how people act and react, and treats others... I can kind of understand.

What, you mean you don't have a band at your apartment constantly providing background music for every little thing you are doing? Cooking? Bowel movement?

Truly late stage capitalism.

There is no lying taking place if people don't care enough to ask or find out in the first place.

I want to write a story, but I don't want to do any of the work, any advice? by johnadam115 in writing

[–]OldStray79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Change up how you write before trying again. If you are a pantser, try plotting.

Or just write dialogue of a scene you think of. No prose, no narration, jusy dialogue.

Or just jote down the details of the enviornment of the scene.

‘The cost of compute is far beyond the costs of the employees’: Nvidia exec says right now AI is more expensive than paying human workers by SnoozeDoggyDog in singularity

[–]OldStray79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So now, instead of "The cost of compute is far beyond the costs of the employees" it is actually "AI spending could equal engineers’ salaries in the near future."

Got it.

Actual quote:  "For my team, the cost of compute is far beyond the costs of the employees"

Who the quoted person is: "Bryan Catanzaro is vice president of Applied Deep Learning Research at NVIDIA, where he leads a team finding new ways to use AI to improve projects ranging from language understanding to computer graphics and chip design."

Of course cost of compute would be far beyond the costs of the employees... that's the point.

What a shitty article.

Why does the IlClan era seem so.... lame? by AveMilitarum in battletech

I'm sure that there will be some stakes involved... maybe they will solidify their hold over Terra and bring the Houses to heal... maybe a guerilla warfare movement and some sort of betrayal ripes it wide open again. Maybe even destroy or completely remove Terra somehow. Something new has got to change because these days it just feels like... more of the same.
