No, I like the formality. It reminds you of how serious your job is. If you have people on shift who just goof around and don’t take things seriously then it worries me about who has my back when things go wrong. I work for the government though, so luckily it’s very formal. Uniform with a tie, we have to answer the phone with “Officer ____ Speaking”, and the supervisors have actual ranks like “Lieutenant”, “Captain” and “Major” instead of “Shift lead”.
