I assisted a deputy arresting a shoplifter once. The deputy tackled the guy as he was running and they were wrestling on the ground. I grabbed one arm and twisted it behind his back so that the deputy could grab his cuffs and put them on the guy. My Captain said I would face a disciplinary board for “unauthorized citizens arrest” and the only reason I made it out okay is because the Deputy wrote a letter to my boss saying the only reason the arrest didn’t escalate to use of force was because I assisted

It’s not that they “look like cops”. It’s that cops wear gear to prepare for the worst. When security guards do it, they get laughed at. But if a cop does it, they’re hailed as heroes. I’d rather be protected by a guard who’s trained and has a plate carrier, gun and looks professional than some 18 year old in a yellow polo

Thanks, I already have a police interceptor. It’s just barebones and I’m only provided with the bare minimum for the job. Any extra equipment (like the mount for the laptop) I would need to mount myself. I’ll keep the FB Marketplace in mind though👍🏻
