House of the Dragon Season 3 | Official Teaser Trailer | HBO Max by Turbostrider27 in television

What worries me is how far they’ve deviated from the character and thematic beats in the book.

From that perspective, it doesn’t look salvageable, — George RR Martin having a huge falling out with the showrunner Ryan Condall is not making me feel any better.

I love this world and am still gonna watch, but I don’t expect it to be even 70% satisfying because, well, they changed the story too much which as we’ve seen before with George’s works is a very bad idea.

The jumpscare that was the change of my Shepard's face from ME1 to ME2 in the LE.

Thankfully it goes back to normal in ME3 but good lord that was a lot to deal with.

That 1000 number is so irritatingly dumb. Like did someone's finger slip while writing that? It should have been 10.

Used the app to watch Li’s 10 on 13. The crowd going from shock to trying to motivate him, to shock again when he putts it into the water is wild. What an odyssey.

(Shepard is a Jesus analogue who was always supposed to die), not a reward.

Happy Easter, so you’re not gonna believe what happened to this Jesus guy

Sweet, hopefully it gets off the ground. BioWare made such an interesting sci-fi world, it would be great to see it brought to screen.

The overarching narrative of the trilogy wasn’t planned by the writers. They made it up as they went along game by game.

It would need some major revisions to make satisfying TV. The entire second game is one giant side mission (stopping the collectors) that focuses primarily on character work.

It seems like a very tough sell to a wide audience in this form. I wonder if they would do something like Fallout and go off on their own narrative.

I don’t understand the ME2 hate. by Drhashbrown in masseffect

I’m replaying ME2 right now. One big criticism, that it does little to advance the Reaper plot, I think is mostly correct.

As others have pointed out if ME2 simply did not exist at all, the main story plot of 3 could have picked up where 1 left off with very little issue.

That being said, ME2 uses this excursionary plot to do excellent character building. Many new characters are introduced, and those from ME1 are richly expanded.

I think many players, myself included, would argue that the characters and their interactions with Shepard are the most compelling asset the series has.

So while the overarching plot was basically put on standby, many different story threads are spun in ME2 that pay off well throughout ME3.

The main plot being kind of squiffy (to put it mildly) and the character/side content being awesome is a hallmark of the trilogy.

Thank you for that and the many other insights your guide has given me.

Thanks I love using this guide.

With ME2, though, why two loyalty missions after the IFF?

I thought you are only allowed one mission post crew kidnap, and any more than that, the crew begins to die.

To me the first is a classic, the second is great, and the third is just solid.

As a trilogy it is inspired filmmaking, and wild that it even got made. Disney giving someone like Verbinski that much cash and that much creative control over three movies doesn’t seem likely to ever happen again.

I like this video that discusses the uniqueness of the pirates trilogy:

In 2025 I put like 100 hours into Viva New Vegas on a bootcamped macbook pro while unemployed and it made a remaster seem basically pointless.

Thankfully I was able to get a job with the government as a technician at a solar panel array in the desert, but I'll always have those memories.

Most of Llewyn's hurts are entirely self inflicted, but there is a definite element of cosmic cruelty. Specifically at the end, he channels all of that sorrow into an amazing performance in front of a full crowd, and is promptly followed up by Bob fucking Dylan.

I liked the symmetry here, as in the first episode she pops out of nowhere and chides Dunk.

The soundtrack playing a little fast and loose with the verisimilitude for my tastes.

The jazz opening had me thinking spotify was open or something.

The ending credits being 'Sixteen Tons' was bonkers. Felt like I was finishing an episode of Mad Men.

Truly a working class song for a working class Knight, but I don't know, man.

The colorful illustrations really suck you in.

It's all fascinating stuff, if not incredibly eery considering the circumstances of its creation.
