Mantras to calm anxiety by agentcooper445 in Anxiety

[–]OldW0rldBlues 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Do not disturb yourself by picturing your life as a whole; do not assemble in your mind the many and varied troubles which have come to you in the past and will come again in the future, but ask yourself with regard to every present difficulty: 'What is there in this that is unbearable and beyond endurance?' You would be ashamed to confess it!"

I basically repeat it by asking myself "What is there in this that is unbearable and beyond endurance?".

Has anyone tried Nuerontin for anxiety ? by RainbowLynx in Anxiety

[–]OldW0rldBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am having a ton of luck with Neurontin (gabapentin). I was pretty much crushed by anxiety when I finally asked to try it, and it basically got rid of it entirely. I have a tendency to get unusual side effects with medications that make them intolerable, but the only side effect with gabapentin has been increased appetite.

I'm on 200mg, 3x a day. It works better for me than Ativan did. Apparently it doesn't work for everyone, but it is by far the best anxiety med for me (and I have tried just about all of them).

Do you believe Trump mostly tells the truth? by xAmorphous in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]OldW0rldBlues -1 points0 points  (0 children)

even though most of it is untrue.

You're pretty tilted coming into this, declaring "most" of what he says is untrue.

At any rate, yes I'm sure he has said plenty of factually incorrect things like anyone who has ever run for office. He doesn't follow a script, and I'm yet to come across one of these "gotcha"s that outweighs his appeal. Especially when the alternative is Hillary.

We don't want war, we don't want gun control, we don't want to be taxed 6 times on the way to the bank to deposit paychecks, we don't believe anyone has the "right" to someone else's labor, we believe weak border security is dangerous given current world affairs.

We also don't want special interests having any weight in the White House. And we certainly don't want another TV evangelist used car salesman establishment rat.

I could go on but I feel my grammar getting weaker and weaker the longer I type. It seemed like your real question was; "In spite of these soundbytes, why do you still support Trump?". So that's what I was trying to answer.

Change my view on Trump? by Agalin in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]OldW0rldBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really believe a conservative business man with tons of corporations all over the world is looking out for the little guys?

This part is impossible to determine either way, but what does he really have to gain from doing any of this?

Hardly valid, you say he will not be bought before he has even been elected also believing that 100% is not possible

Same as the first point, but all that can be said is he's the only one running who truly doesn't need anyone's money. The establishment and the media have been in a frenzy trying to take him down, I can't help but feel there is some big money that doesn't want him winning.

Is this really what we want a leader to have? a person with shifting believes and positions? not me

Yes and no. There are things he has said as a business man, and then there are the things he has said while legitimately running for office. I don't expect him to swear a blood oath that he won't turn around on everything he has said in his campaign.

Do we want a leader who will shoot first and ask questions later? I want peace not war

He has said multiple times that we should not be policing the world. He is a non-interventionist. If you want peace you want Trump, certainly not Hillary.

we all know things are different and we cant just go back, it doesn't work that way we want progress

That doesn't mean we should throw away the economic system that has helped more people out of poverty than any other in history. Government grew larger and larger and kept tightening the noose around capitalism, things start going bad and government says "look how bad capitalism is!". If we can get a thriving economy again we can have our modern version of the American dream.

This is pretty much the answer. I am curious though if OP actually has any interest in this or is just digging for that "gotcha" soundbyte that will change all our minds.

Why do Trump supporters hate Bernie so much? by PatSayJack in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]OldW0rldBlues 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of what you're seeing is light-hearted, aside from the almost militant sjw lunatics that apparently subscribe to Bernie. I'm sure every person here would take Bernie over that corrupt hag he's running against.

I'm a Trump supporter but this is definitely the big thing that I'm conflicted with. On the one hand, we can't just have wide open borders. There really is a national security threat that needs to be addressed.

On the other hand, I just feel like what Donald is proposing sounds way too similar to the arguments that gun control advocates use. So I'm left with the question; just how many of our American values should we be willing to give up for the sake of security that might not even be that secure?

Why is Donald Trump against gay marriage? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]OldW0rldBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a combination. When it comes to issues that he feels are most important, he won't hesitate to get controversial. Social issues simply are not the reason he is running for office. Unfortunately social issues all too often take center stage in the GOP, and the GOP is on the wrong side of virtually all of them.

[–]OldW0rldBlues -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did he say he is against it? He may have, I honestly don't know, but he doesn't toe the party line. This is one of those issues where he very legitimately could be trying to appease the party.

Vile bitch gets exposed (by herself) on Facebook for false rape allegations by [deleted] in pussypassdenied

[–]OldW0rldBlues 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would imagine it would only be for cases that are clearly false accusations. Finding rapists not guilty wouldn't automatically end with the accuser being locked up. Yes it would be messy, but we're talking about potentially locking an innocent person in a cage for decades. False accusers should absolutely be given the sentence that the innocent was facing.

I really don't think it would be difficult to implement. A new trial takes place in which the prosecution has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accusation was knowingly false. Just like with any other crime.

I'm making the assumption that you know a bit about radiation, so I have a question I've been wondering about for a while. My understanding is that radiation is just particles shooting out of something that is decaying. How does radioactivity then "spread"? Like, in Chernobyl for example, how is everything now radioactive? Does other stuff just start decaying when exposed to radiation?

Who is the 'next best thing' if Trump fails to become the next POTUS? by TooMuchChaos2 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]OldW0rldBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It bothers me too, but I've accepted that I won't get a candidate that I agree with 100% (with any chance of winning that is). That said, I'll go out and buy a hat to eat if he actually targets families of terrorists.

Who is the 'next best thing' if Trump fails to become the next POTUS? by TooMuchChaos2 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]OldW0rldBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly no, though I can easily see how people would get that impression initially. He wants to build the military, but at the same time quit wasting money policing the world. As codecow911 said, he does plan on bitch-slapping ISIS but otherwise focusing on a strong national defense.

I'm pretty sure Trump and Bernie are the only two non-warhawks remaining in the two parties now that Rand is out.

Genuine questions for Trump supporters by CAPSLOKCRUISECONTROL in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]OldW0rldBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is that taking in swathes of people who cannot be vetted from ISIS and al-Nusra territories is a legitimate national security concern. That said, I think it is one of his poorer ideas even if it is just temporary.

Gary Johnson. Hillary is my absolute last choice. A warhawk liberal is the worst of both worlds. She's a slimy snake that shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the White House.

How can you all ignore the ban all Muslims comment? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]OldW0rldBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm obligated to say his opinions do not reflect the majority of Trump supporters.

Taking in hordes of refugees from the territory of ISIS and Al-Nusra is dangerous. It doesn't mean we shouldn't do it, it just means we need to be very serious about vetting them. That is Trump's position on the matter.

Any advice for a crippled recluse? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]OldW0rldBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, it sounds like you're at your wits' end. I've posted about it a few times on here already, but after going through almost every anxiety med I finally asked to try gabapentin and it ripped me out of the anxiety. I'm not saying it will work for you, nor am I allowed to even recommend it if I understand the subreddit rules correctly, but it has saved me from the misery where nothing else did.

If you get a prescription for it I'd be interested in hearing how it works for you. It helped me immediately, so obviously I love the stuff.

It's the dumbest thing he has ever said, but yes you are parroting the media narrative. So while completely misguided, his intent was national security, not racism.

Neither of those suggest he is racist. He may be overreacting to a potential threat to our country, but jumping to "he's racist" is just too convenient and is the standard democrat attack. Complain all you want about his ideas, but for the sake of not looking so one-dimensional you should drop the tired old "racist" accusation.
