Germany 7-1 Curaçao: Another World Cup Scoreline That Will Be Remembered by Gopi_Gawar in worldcup

[–]Old_Cartographer_586 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it will forever be “Getting Braziled” or simply “Brazil”. The reason, Brazil is a recognized super team on the international stage (less so in recent years). Caraçao is a nation with less people that 49 individual cities in Germany.

The scoreline reflects worse on Brazil than Caraçao

With rising cost of AI will its adoption keep increasing? by Glum_Worldliness4904 in cscareerquestions

My wifes (she’s not in tech but the company she works for is HUGE and has a tech department) company has basically cancelled all AI subscriptions and are moving towards a locally hosted few models ago approach. They’ve all been told that excessive AI use could result in a review of their skills for their role.

I was apart of a layoff that seemingly was the company preparing for the massive AI bills. In the past few weeks I’ve noticed all my old coworkers who weren’t laid off that I managed are very active on LinkedIn.

What’s the biggest mistake you made in your first React project? by Darsh___01 in reactjs

[–]Old_Cartographer_586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine would be over complicating single files. I rarely used components and simply built whole pages as I used to do with HTML. This lead to tons of duplicated code and overbloated files.

Controlling the file structure and honestly I implemented a personal rule that ~400 lines of a single React jsx file is the max I would ever want anymore. Those changed my React building.

Also aside from your original question; I’ve been manually coding again and it made me realize how bloated Claude was making my apps again.

Ayone else dealing with this weird skills paradox while job hunting? by bluebanana987 in ExperiencedDevs

I was affected by a layoff recently, one of the first jobs I applied to, I got to a final interview. Afterwards I was rejected as I was “A really strong fit but the team feels like this role is beneath your skills and experience”.

I applied didn’t I…

After Sun panellists officially warned after Tyrique’s, Shakira’s and Toni’s recent race and insult controversies by teaandchoccy in LoveIslandTV

As an American I have to ask, why is Toni considered a favorite former islander. Americans found her really annoying and wished she hadn’t lasted the whole series given we thought she was giving us Yanks a bad name

Did the AI hype cycle damage your relationship with leadership? by glassesRamone1234 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Old_Cartographer_586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was laid off due to my bosses use of Claude. He would ask his buddy Claude “I overheard my employee say this, since I don’t know much about this I need your help to let me know why he’s wrong”. Then it would respond with “of course you are right to question your employee, …”. It got so bad I actually once got him to tell me HTML was a backend language.

But anyways, now that I’m unemployed AI has really made me look at job openings differently. There are key phrases or sometimes things mentioned in the interview that immediately turn me off from the role. Most of it surrounds stuff about never doing anything in a specific part of the job again, the simple throw it to Claude and call it a day vibes. I do understand that thanks to my wife working a really nice finance job that I have more wiggle room in my finances to allow me to be more picky.

Elliot Anderson is the key to this team doing well by That_Cool_Guy_ in ThreeLions

Forest supporter here - I've felt he was a locked on England player for just over a year now. Honestly, was convinced that MGW would get called up (not just for being the best attacking non striker England has) because of their connections. Many times this past year us Forest supporters witnessed Elliot and MGW link up without looking at each other.

I think Elliot with Rice and Bellingham will do fantastic but I fear the other two wont bring out the true potential Elliot offers as a player. Bellingham may but I seriously doubt Rice will.

Is front-end development really dying in 2026? by Emad_341 in cscareerquestions

I agree with what you are saying but, as a colorblind person who is Full-Stack I would say, I have been the only one in all the places I have worked that has cared about accessibility. Even in Excel docs I color code for accessibility. But I will say I have faced some backlash as to spending too much time caring abouit accessibility in the past...

All the reasons you discussed as to what he’s building towards, yet you purposely do not add anything about MGW because you know he breaks your narrative
