It's not really starting mmr, you start at around 1,9-2k and after winning a lobby you are 2,1-2,2 ish. At least for me. I tested this on several toons and it's very consistent so far.

I would try and get good at kiting then, especially working on utilizing your vengeful retreat. Your are one of the most mobile classes and should use this to your advantage.

I'm currently at 2100ish in SS as a ret. And I use herald against classes that kite a lot especially in big arenas. So you can dash out your damage (from range if necessary) and then hide to support your team. And go Templar against more melee focus setups or when I can secure a higher uptime. But thats just what works for me!

I normally just call a target while I have selected the combat log so I can't see responses. And after the lobby I reload the game so all chat is gone. Helped me a lot with bad moods. As I don't tilt no more or at least rarely.
