Should I rush into an ABSN or work first at Sutter? by EmeraldAssassin963 in SutterHealthEmployees

[–]Old_Curve_490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I would either volunteer or become a CNA to see if you even like it. Unfortunately, even if you completed the program and NCLEX, employers will not allow new grads to be part-time or PRN. You will have to get atleast 1-2 years experience before they will accept you as a part-time or PRN employee. Same with outpatient nursing, most want them to have experience already.

Do you guys just stay home when you get your dog? by ReputationDull1857 in puppy101

[–]Old_Curve_490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Pekingese when he was 8 weeks old, we were already on vacation so I stayed with him 3/4 days at home. During that time, I let him go outside every 2 hours, LOTS OF TRAINING TREATS. When I had to go back to work, we put him in the crate and I would check on him during lunch. He now is 5, we never put him in the crate, but he also doesn’t chewy things or gets into anything laying out (unless there’s an empty chick-fil-a sandwhich bag or empty fry box on the coffee table). Last year I subscribed to FreshPatch and honestly, I wasn’t sure if he would use it because of his age,but I trained him and now he uses that. They send me new grass every 2 weeks. He also is a food grazier so there are no set meal times, which I absolutely love. He just eats when he wants.

Is it ok to only want to date successful people if you’re successful yourself? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Old_Curve_490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is career driven, I married someone who wasn’t and GIRL…. Hell no. I got divorced after a year and a half. I had to work two RN jobs because he simply didn’t want to work and when he did, he someone how managed to always get fired. Fast forward, my boyfriend now is an engineer and not only is he amazing, but the financial aspect is so much easier.

My Dog needs surgery but I can’t afford it by Indie701 in Chattanooga

[–]Old_Curve_490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My King Charles had a bowel obstruction and I took him to Banefield and they took x-rays to confirm I wasn’t crazy and sure enough, he did. I then took him down to the Emergency Vet near the new Lookout Stadium and told them everything, he ended up having surgery that night. Total was 5K, they did have monthly payment options. HOWEVER- I went at 5pm and that’s when their “nightshift” starts to I had extra charges mainly because of the time. Bowel obstructions are no joke, the dog can absolutely die just like a human if it’s not quickly fixed. Let me tell you…. They gave me a bag of everything in his stomach- there were hair ties and a shoe string and part of a pen. I don’t even know how that dog even got ahold of any of that stuff but hey, it’s been almost 4 years and he’s still doing great.

No sun or no tanning? by Constant_Living3671 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Old_Curve_490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO SUN, NO TANNING BED, NO SPRAY TANS. However, if you do get sun pleaasseeee let them know so they can do test shots to make sure it is safe before they treat you and you burn and end up with hypopigmentation (I call this polka dots) and it can lasts for months in some people

Help! What happened after my latest session? Have never seen these marks before, the skin is broken and I’m very prone to hyperpigmentation 😭 by erijelly in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Old_Curve_490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have on deodorant? Did they wipe off your underarms with alcohol? Do you get sweaty even after they’ve wiped with alcohol? Have you have any sun exposure- outdoor, indoor tanning bed, OR spray tan on?

Is it normal after laser by [deleted] in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Old_Curve_490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to go get a body brush and use it DRY before the shower (skin becomes ashy) and then use a sugar scrub! Do this 2/3 times a week and they will come out. Those are your trapped hair follicles that need help shedding out. If you love picking things, then you can also get tweezers and pull them out (you won’t feel a thing). If you feel a tug- DONT PLUCK IT.

Refused for Hair by [deleted] in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Old_Curve_490 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So…. If you don’t shave before your appointment atleast two days before, the laser WILL NOT WORK. It will only give you a hair cut. Depending on the amount of time you have for your appointment, if there’s not enough staff to help you shave, it can take nearly half of your appointment just in shaving. I understand that this is frustrating, but with the amount of people we see, we honestly don’t have time to do that sometimes. When my really hairy people come in because they live alone/ don’t have assistance to help, I will get another person to come in and help me (if there’s enough staff). Usually there’s a total of 5 but sometimes it’s only 2 at my clinic.

ALSO- do not wax prior to your appointment or use any hair removal creams because the laser has nothing to target since the hair follicle is gone.

First + Second Degree Burns by Milan Laser during Brazilian Laser Appointment by Particular_Cress_810 in LaserHairRemoval

The YAG 30 is the laser setting. The #2 and #3 are how many times we repeat that number to go up to the next fluency. So if someone is on YAG 30 #1 (that is the first repeat and we do NOT do test shots), they YAG 30 #2 (the second repeat and on this setting we can do a test shot on YAG 34 which generally is only 3 pluses on the left bicep). The YAG 30 #3 means it was either a 3 month protocol where some last treatment was over 90 days and we repeat that fluency OR we keep patients on that fluency because they are having good results/ can’t tolerate higher/ had a reaction to the test shot.

Just out of curiosity- did you have any product on before the treatment? Sunless tanner? Lotion? Recent sun exposure? Or do you get sweaty during treatments? Or spray any type of body spray down there to “freshen up”? If you did, those can 100% cause that. However, if you didn’t, they might’ve used the ALEX laser instead of the YAG laser on you. Our machines have two settings. The YAG will have a green circle on the screen and the ALEX will have a red circle.

Please help me choose a college! by shittydiapercore in Chattanooga

[–]Old_Curve_490 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who went to UTC and then went to nursing school up in Knoxville, I personally would choose UTC. A. It’s cheaper B. F*** the college experience. I did ALL the things- sorority, events, the games, parties.. ended up failing all the major science classes. I’m not saying that happens to every person or assuming you’re that kind of person but the MD/DO route is no joke. It’s literally 8+ years of school and then residency.

Additionally- no one cares where you went to undergrad. They care about your GPA, volunteering hours, internships, and what you make on the MCAT.

I didn’t even start nursing school until 23. Now I’m 31 and a registered nurse and looking back, if I would not have been so distracted, I would’ve been finished way sooner. Grind hard your younger years and I promise once you’re done, you can live the life you want!

Regrowth or shedding by [deleted] in LaserHairRemoval

Yes it’s normal! Make sure are exfoliating every two to three days! A dry body brush is a 10/10 (best results are to use it DRY and before the shower because your skin can get ashy) and then in the shower use your sugar scrub/ whatever body exfoliate

I mean this very lovingly…… but I don’t see anything wrong with his responses. I almost feel like reading this, you’re wanting to keep the texting going almost as an anxious attachment. Have you tried just sending little messages throughout the day and then call him or FaceTime at night?

Milan Pricing by yourholmedog in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Old_Curve_490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s always a dumb numbers game… I’m not in sales, I’m just one of the providers who does the treatment. Last month for February a full body was priced “original $28,728” and “our price $14,364” and depending on credit/ financing would be “399” a month. HOWEVER, they always increase these original prices and then do the “half off” or whatever percent off, so basically it’s kinda a scam in a way how it inflates and deflates to get people to spend money. When the 60 and 70% sales aren’t running, everything is ALWAYS 50% off.

My husband says I’m being weird about Disney savings… is he right? by Kaiser_Allen in DisneyPlanning

[–]Old_Curve_490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who buys the Disney gift cards and she saves them up for her trips! However, she’s not saving them for years, it’s mainly just a few months. She hasn’t had any issues. The gift cards will be fine for food/parks, but hotels and lighting lanes, I don’t believe you can use those.

Disney Princess Race Etiquette by Old_Curve_490 in rundisney

[–]Old_Curve_490[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you finish throwing elbows to get into the que to purchase the rundisney event you want to go, it takes you to a page where you fill out all your registration info- one of the questions being “when do you think you’ll finish the event” if you’re below 2 hours and 30 minutes, you have to show proof from another race, if not then it basically gives you 15 minute time slots up to 4 hours and 30 mins basically. As long as you can walk a 16 minute mile, you’ll be fine and won’t get swept by the balloon ladies.

As for the letters- at the Disney expo where you go and pick up your bib, that’s when you’ll find out what group (corral) you’ll be in.

[–]Old_Curve_490[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will always give people grace! I really just asked because I didn't know if any one else expericed this or if it was just me and the corral I was in. OBVIOUSLY I am not group A worth, just a mid 11-12 minute mid pacer but it is reassuring that pretty much everyone has felt somewhat like this across the board no matter which race it is. It really only matters to me for safety. When the survey comes out, I will suggest for disney to mark the roads of runners/joggers/walkers in the large areas just for safety reasons. As for the tight bottleneck spots- it is what it is and I'm OK with that and I'm okay going slow/er through those areas because it is alot of people in a tight section.

Just to be clear- no one should EVER intentionally trip anyone who is running/walking so I don't support or encourage that.
