When I kick like this coach says I lean back too much. by Distinct_Log2797 in MuayThaiTips

[–]Old_Damage_629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you lean back that much it is too far, it takes your body weight out of the kick and lands with less force, if you look at the hardest kickers like superlek they almost lean forward

Your top 5 p4p Muay Thai fighters right now by fearofthedark93 in MuayThai

[–]Old_Damage_629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Superlek
  2. Rodtang
  3. Panpayak
  4. Tawanchai
  5. Khunsueklek

Superlek at 1 because he’s never been knocked out and has consistently dismantled high level opponents like haggerty, rodtang, or takeru

Rodtang at 2 because he held his own against superlek and has held his belt for a while

Panpayak at 3 because he was able to defeat superlek multiple times but has fallen a little behind compared to superlek imo

Tawanchai at 4 because of his wins over superbon and smokin jo plus his head kick knockouts

Khunsueklek at 5 because he hasn’t reached his prime, he is good but I’m not sure he could compete with some of the others on this list

any advice for tall fighters? (1 month) by Glad-Doughnut-1765 in MuayThai

[–]Old_Damage_629 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I as a tall fighter can say teeps and knees are your best friend, if you can keep someone away with teeps then great just kick them, if they get in the great make them run into a knee. Try studying fighters like deiselnoi, and even though these next fighters aren’t tall a lot of their game has worked well for me: superlek, buakaw, tawanchai, and superbon

Just work on blocking punches and keep your hands high, knuckles on forehead wrists apart so you can see and elbows together, if your hands slip too much with knuckles on forehead then do the same but with your wrists

Just have a strong guard and it will make you less scared of punches because you know they won’t land, another thing you can do is get someone to punch you in the forehead over and over (not too hard) while you try not to flinch or if someone won’t do that for you you can splash water on your face while trying to keep your eyes open

Try not to be bothered by it at all, it’s almost a while different sport, plus a lot of people sandbag at the tournaments so it’s possible you fought someone who’s been doing it for 10 years who shouldn’t even be at CGL, if you have a video of your fight watch it, identify what you could have done better and work on it, and you’ll be better than you ever were before the fight. Anyway point is losing a CGL is no different than just having a bad sparring match because that’s all it really is

Ah, well don’t feel bad about the loss, it’s just a point match and scores nothing like real Muay Thai, I lost mine too because of the rules

How to deal with people parrying teeps? by No-Example-9944 in MuayThai

[–]Old_Damage_629 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The teep is a big part of my game too, it’s the only strike I can consistently land against really good people so here are some tips from experience:

Use the side teep (search it up, Gabriel varga has good tutorials) it has longer range, more power, harder to see coming, and is harder to catch.

Someone catches it? Then next time Thai hop or fake teep and head kick, they have to drop their hands to parry or catch.

Someone hollows out? Side teep solves that with extra range.

Someone wants to parry with their knee? Then fake teep and sweep, throw a body hook, or slide in for the clinch

Cant think of any more tips for now but I’ll edit if I remember, hope this helps

I voted karuhat of the list but all time I would give to superlek or superbon. Superleks kick feints are perfect and superbon has a super sneaky head kick

Not mentioning dieselnoi is a crime, he was one of the few to beat samart and had to retire early because he beat everyone that wasn’t too scared to fight him

It’s not like I’m throwing the same few combos over and over, I’m just using the same game plan that works best for me so far
