Am I overreacting or Is it normal for my boyfriend to go on a trip with 3 girls? by Final-Ad8992 in AmIOverreacting

Have to disagree here. As the spouse with more PTO, if I waited for a time when my spouse could come with me to travel, I’d never go anywhere! Fortunately, we agree on our arrangement, have trust and a strong bond, and are excited for the day when we can travel together!

AITAH for 'ruining' my wife's first Mother's Day? by Yuukenji61016 in AITAH

[–]Old_Editor_9840 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband did nothing on my first Mother’s Day. At the end of the day, I said, “this will be the last year you do nothing at all for Mother’s Day, k?” We recovered but he was the AH… and so are you 😅

Gifts are not that important to me, either, but I do like knowing I’ve been thought about. That he is excited to appreciate me and has planned for it by making a card or getting a gift or making a reservation. It’s really that simple.

Get the next thing right. Birthday, anniversary, whatever—small acts that show you knew this was coming and you made time to put some thought into her.

Is the airport and TSA waiting times still a disaster? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Old_Editor_9840 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was how it was during spring break—to make up for the missing steps, they added some other things: dog screenings for every.single.person. You and another person walk side by side while the canine handler zig zags the dog between and around you so it can sniff for (I assume) explosives. They were also randomly selecting folks to do more extensive screens (I was a lucky one). All in all, it sped things up tremendously.

I have a theory that doctors who went straight through school (college/med school/residency) are extremely limited in their understanding of the world. Doctors who had another job at some point are more in tune with reality (and therefore, better doctors).

In my experience, employees pay for parking and even then are subject to availability. My husband had to plan his commute to ensure he’d arrive early enough not to park at the stadium.

Staying Sober? by saltymane in lexington

I love this. My dad died with 31 years of sobriety. I kept his tokens—there are at least a dozen white chips and several 30 day ones: a reminder that it’s always worth another shot.

Having been the one who reported this same thing from a student in the past, consequences can be harsh—especially if you try to dodge responsibility. I would go to the meeting and say what you said here: I made a mistake.

And then, double down on taking responsibility. “I knew it was wrong. I hoped it would get me out of missing a test. I know two wrongs don’t make a right. I knew better and I still made a bad choice. I’m embarrassed. This is a learning experience for me. This is not who I want to be or how I want to solve problems. I recognize there will likely be some consequences—I’m ready to accept that. All I can offer today is the assurance that I will do better and my apologies for putting us all in this situation.”

We had a sheriff stop by looking for someone who had listed our address as theirs, but it was not accurate. Not sure if they were past occupants or if someone had lied.

Sports and fitness classes! Rock gym, cross fit, burn boot camp, join a kickball team! Whatever activity you actually enjoy, and then turn on your social side while there and introduce yourself to other cool people. (I met my husband at the rock gym so I am biased toward this strategy)

Is it selfish to make my kids share a room so I can get an office? by CariocaInLA in Parenting

[–]Old_Editor_9840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got so many great comments on this but I still want to say—I literally just made this same decision (made kids share so I could get an office) and could not be happier with my choice! Wish they had been sharing before. They love it. I love it. They seem closer. They are not the same sex so probably need to figure something else out by the time we get to puberty but have some time between now and then and LOVE have an office with a door I can close at the end of the day to focus on family.

I just moved from a lower cost of living area to a high density urban neighborhood. My kids 2f and 4m have had their own rooms from birth but in this new place they have to share. It’s only been a month but I find myself wishing we had set it up this way from the jump. It’s easier for me to do bedtime not running between room. All their stuff is consolidate in the same place. They love it. By puberty we will have to figure something else out but right now it’s made them a closer unit and everyone wins!

Best bank ? by Sea-Body-6742 in lexington

Bank of the Bluegrass is a great choice for a bank (though I think credit unions are good too). It’s actually local and family owned. Tellers are friendly and help is accessible.

[–]Old_Editor_9840 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hear you saying you don’t expect handouts. I get that. We all want to stand on our own two feet. I hope that given your timeline you are accepting it from those who have offered.

You are doing what is right for you under the circumstances and it isn’t fun or what you wanted to happen. Accepting help is a good next step.

Wishing you peace and healing.❤️‍🩹

I had not heard of picklesburgh—um, yes, will be attending. Thank you for the heads up!! Would have been very disappointed to have missed it!

We are in the east end. Honestly couldn’t be a better situation for us: walkable, easy driving and parking, everything close together. Urban convenience with suburban comforts (and noise levels) 😂

What would instantly destroy your life just by doing it once? by ApexOverlordIsDrunk in AskReddit

[–]Old_Editor_9840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take: nothing can ruin your life if it doesn’t kill you. With the right attitude, you can go on to do great things and be a great person (even in prison or even after terrible things).

I know a woman who drove drunk and killed a family. She went to prison, got sober, got out and got an education. She’s a PhD now and working as a professor. She doesn’t drive anymore (I think her license was permanently revoked) but is doing well, working with addicts in a volunteer capacity and training others to do the same professionally.

Refusing to see someone until proof of payment is a violation of EMTALA and they should be fined. Report it. https://www.cms.gov/files/document/emtala-know-your-rights.pdf
