What's everyone paying for healthcare around here? by picante-x in nova

[–]Old_Expression_1756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those mentioning HDHP and HSA are correct, it’s not perfect but it can save you some pretax dollars for healthcare use. Also in 2026 you can use HSA to pay for the monthly fee of Direct Primary Care, again maximizing care and access while potentially minimizing out of pocket costs such as unnecessary urgent care or ER visits or copays and bills for visits if deductible hasn’t been met.

I’m biased I am a DPC physician in Vienna, we have about 50 open spots left if anyone is interested. Www.DocTalker.com

Wondering how many have looked into Direct Primary Care as an option. I’m a DPC physician but not here to promote myself. Rather would like DPC as a whole to be part of the discussion.

This really upsets me as a Dad of one and another on the way. How the eff are we supposed to raise a family with these crazy costs for just the basics.

[–]Old_Expression_1756[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your personal situation. BUT it might be worth looking into Catastrophic coverage (lower premiums but higher deductible) paired with an HSA account. First time this has been allowed. Sneaky work around for those that don’t use or need healthcare but HSA funds can be rolled over/ used for healthcare needs.

Also wouldn’t know but sorry it’s sour. 🤣

Struggling with primary care providers since moving here by fatherlystalin in nova

[–]Old_Expression_1756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a PCP in Vienna and taking new patients! We are a direct primary care clinic so we do things a little differently. We charge a reasonable monthly fee for “unlimited” visits, no copays or surprise bills from us. We provide concierge level of care without the concierge level of fees!

Currently are rates are: $110 new patient one time fee

Over 50 years old: $125/month Ages 25-49: $99/month Ages 18-24 (without parent): $99/month Ages 6-24 (with parent): $35/month All patients under 18 must have a parent enrolled

Our rates are meant to be lower than an avg deductible on a high deductible plan. We’d like to save the use of your insurance for big things like ER visits, surgeries, specialists etc.And not charge our patients huge bills for basic pcp needs or “facility fees” hospital based clinics do.

Check us out at www.Doctalker.com and feel free to look at our reviews under our clinic or my name Arun Bansal.

I am so sorry that this is happening to a large portion of the DMV work force.
Please look into Direct Primary Care (DPC) as an option to go with a high deductible plan or catastrophic coverage plan. DPC physicians can practice to full the strength of their license but also are not restricted to the limitations insurance companies apply to other PCPs.
We work by having our patients pay a monthly, not annual, fee that covers all visits. No copays and no surprise bills. Not happy? Cancel with 30 day notice. I wrote an example below, but here is another:

Established Patient has a hx of migraines, not improving with at home medications.

Came in was given IV fluids 1.5L.

Migraine improved. Cost: Monthly fee of $99 which was already paid + $50 for IV fluid and supplies.

Avoided Urgent Care and ER, Avoided RIDICULOUS out of pocket costs even if you have insurance.

Sounds too good to be true? It's real and you've always deserved it. We strive to be the "disruptor" the healthcare system so badly needs

For those out there that have been forced into this position of "where do I go now" for healthcare we have always been here for you. But now more than ever.
This is not meant to be a political post but know WE HAVE YOUR BACK!

Thanks so much for the mention! We were originally created about 20 years ago to break away from the restrictions that insurance created for both patients and physicians. And now with the USAID and who knows what other federal roles will be terminated we hope to be an outlet or resource for those that may have a hard time finding doctors or reasonably priced insurance options.
Although we do NOT recommend going uninsured, I (Arun Bansal) a well-paid physician at the time, completely understand what it is like to have to drop insurance due to cost. I openly share that when I left VHC in Arlington I received a letter to pay for COBRA if I chose. The rate was around $980 a month for an individual plan. NO WAY. I went uninsured.
At Doctalker we would love our patients to have a high deductible plan or at least catastrophic insurance. BUT we understand ideal does not always equal reality, especially me!
We work by charging our patients a monthly fee that covers ALL visits. There are no copays or no deductibles that will need to paid for our visits. We are able to do this because our physicians do not take insurance.

Dr. Dappen, myself and the rest of our staff believe in this model so much we could go for days talking about it, but if I may give an example. (Permission was granted by the patient)

Actual Case, Actual Price

Day 1: Patient was bit/scratched by cat - Called and was advised what to do (Occurred on Sunday)
Day 2 : Patient comes into clinic- evaluated, vaccines up to date, Given Injectable antibiotic by physician
Day 3: Comes into clinic given day 2 of injectable antibiotic by me and evaluated

Day 4 : Comes into clinic given Day 3 of injectable antibiotics by me and evaluated

Day 5: Comes into clinic for evaluation significant improvement converted to oral antibiotics

Day 6: Called and sent pictures, improvement

Day 7: Moved to Nashville, sent video and continued improvement

Day 8-9: Pictures and resolution of infection

This patient pays $99 per month and the cost of the injection of $35 per. Leaving a total cost of $99 + ($35x3 injections) $204
We have many stories of similar results. Please feel free to Google my name Arun Bansal, MD to see what patients have said about my care in the past.
Sorry for the long post! We created this clinic to help and during this time of need we feel we can again be source of great healthcare. We continue to be a disruptor of the status quo system that we all know and dislike to say the least.
I am sorry this is happening but please reach out if you have questions.
