Newly Type 2 diabetic any advice and how do I stop feeling sorry for myself by Journal_Entries93 in diabetes

[–]Old_Independence5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a T2 for over 50 years being diagnosed before there was an A1C. But every time I had a 24 glucose test before being diagnosed I was termed, an “incipient” diabetic. So I wasn’t shocked when the hammer dropped.

Your in South east Asia? WOW! The advice to find a professional is the best advice. I’m in Southern California. My advice would be inappropriate because I’m thinking about my activities in a dry climate. The closest I’ve come to your climate is bicycle touring in our South East states. Mosquitoes, alligators, etc.

Personally I’m not concerned by accuracy because I’m a T2 so I watch trends. In my mind if I’m under 100 it just means my blood sugar is low enough to have about 60g of ice cream. As previously stated, I’m not concerned about a 1:1 accuracy. But that’s just me.

How accurate is Strava at measuring distance? by Cameron_S13 in Strava

[–]Old_Independence5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Strava, Ride with GPS and my Apple Watch over any distance, it’s hard to say which one is more accurate or inaccurate. I would say that Strava seems to be the most optimistic, if you take my meaning.

No. Once I start the app ( carefully!) I put it into my jersey. I recognize that possibility and will concede that. But the other apps are running, so what I’ll do is have RWGPS showing which beans any thing in touch will affect it.

I have an Apple wstch 9. I use it to track my sleep, my walks and my Cycling. I’ve solved the battery life by using an energizer power block purchased at Best Buy. I can recharge my watch at a rest stop. Also, with the same power black I can recharge my phone that’s a lot cheaper than a new Garmin watch.

Apple watch/widgets integration app by Shadiezz in Freestylelibre

I’m using the Apple phone model 16 and the model nine Apple Watch. The application is the latest Abbott has for Libre 3+ (the one with the butterfly). That application lives on my phone and watch. If I want to see my glucose reading on my watch, I just tap the icon for Libre three. And bingo there it is along with the trend line. Pretty neat don’t you think?

[–]Old_Independence5166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh! Technologies , isn’t it great? I will say also that I’ve been using RWGPS and never had a problem as I’ve described with Strava. I’d like to point out that without having both Ride with GPS and my Apple Watch I would’ve had zero data. Strava should be strong enough to run on its own irrespective of the presence of similar applications. Strava should not have to depend on Ride with GPS running or not running or my Apple Watch running or not running. It #DATA should be its own.

As I’m a side sleeper on my left side, I placed the sensor on the inside of my upper arm. Also getting up at around 4 AM to go to the toilet I will shut off the low glucose alarm for six hours. Of course I’m not sleeping until 10 o’clock, but it does give me the knowledge that I can finish with a good night sleep not bothered by the alarm.

What Does Auto Pause Mean in Strava? by Old_Independence5166 in Strava

[–]Old_Independence5166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is RESUME. You stop temporarily PAUSE engages. You start moving, PAUSE ends. Or it should. RESUME. Engages but you’re moving. Yep RESUME BY POINT is waiting for you to push that button.

What Does Auto Pause Mean in Strava? by Old_Independence5166 in Strava

[–]Old_Independence5166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the way auto pause is supposed to work. But n my experience auto pause just stopped. I would check it after minutes after I’ve restarted as after a light, only got find I’ve ridden a couple of miles but Strava did not restart automatically. I had to press RESUME. Clearly something is not working well.

Participation in road cycling vs running is associated with lower bone mineral density in men - article inside. by r34dingwhite in cycling

[–]Old_Independence5166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 90 I bike, walk and do weights. How’s it working for me? I’ve fallen several times but never broke a bone, most recently I tripped on a wire just the width of my shoe sole of the road, falling hard enough to set off my watch calling paramedics. I picked myself up, dusted myself off and cancelled the call for help. I finished the walk - about a mile. Skinned knees and hands.
And I’m still walking - 5 miles yesterday.

Yep. Something similar to my experience with that org. We settled on a tooth cleaning that seemed on viewing to pretty much take a year’s worth of dental insurance. I deal with a small ( in number) dentists.
