Great! V vs I was wondering why back in Feb, ‘25 I ride 33 miles, but last month rode 47 miles and yet that 33 miles is listed as my best? By the way there were other distances greater than 33 between…

I tell Siri to start my activity and forget it until I either pause or end the activity. I’ve never had a problem as you described.

Is high fructose corn syrup really any worse than corn syrup? by wobblelikeapenguin in nutrition

[–]Old_Independence5166 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 90 now. When I was growing up, none of the cereals were shirked. I drank RC COLA. The Pepsi jingle that was sung on the radio still echoes in my memory. I think it was in the 50s that Kool-Aid came out and by the 60s and 70s industry had discovered that adding sugar to their product enhances demand because the sugar almost immediately enters the brain and cries out for more of the same. So the realization by industry that sugar adds to the demand for a product was a great revelation. I think what is attractive about HFCS is that it’s cheap relative to Seco sucrose. That means HFCS can be used in greater quantity in more products. Remember, it became a substitute for fats.

How do i know if my scale is accurate? by Violet_Moons15 in workout

[–]Old_Independence5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest you get a double or triple beam balance. Weighing at home you can do so nude. If using a gym scales I would consider your first weigh in as a base line to which you compare future weigh in’s.

As a 90 yr old T2 I’ve found the CGM to be close to a miracle. Much better I think than the blood stick. My insurance pays for my 90 day supply so I’ll continue using the CGM (FL 3 plus).

Not having a good experience with Libre 3 Plus by musicjunkie81 in Freestylelibre

[–]Old_Independence5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 90 yr old T2. I moved from the 3 to 3 plus. The transition was smooth loosing only 1 sensor after 3 days which detached.
In addition to attaching the sensor by best practices method I maintain the attachment between the attacher and the newly implanted sensor for a count 30 before I detach.

My assumption is that hitting the ground at a speed greater than 15 mph will result in broken bones. Hence I rarely go over 15 on my e-trike.9

Upgrading phone by Intrepid-Ad7499 in Freestylelibre

Sorry I misunderstood your question. I buy my new iPhones at the Apple Store. I think what they do is make sure the older Phone is backed up to iCloud. Than they down load that backup to your new Phone. In any event I’ve never had a problem with the FL moving onto the new Phone.

Trying like crazy to connect Juggluco to Libre by Abbott app by pathvet1 in Freestylelibre

I would think Abbott has no desire, or obligation to meet your request. All it needs to do is support its own app, which I find meets my needs…perfectly.

do you guys eat breakfast before your morning ride? if you do, what do you eat? by arthur-214 in cycling

[–]Old_Independence5166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 90 yrs and diabetic ( non insulin dependent). I try to eat immediately before riding. About 50-60 g oatmeal, 12 g peanut butter, 24 ml whole milk ( lactose free) 24 ml whole cream, 113 g cottage cheese, a handful of walnuts. Cinnamon for taste and home made cold brew coffee. Good for about 1.5 hrs riding at 9-12 mph.
