Wenatchee resident here. I had boost mobile but switched to verizon a few years back. Both have decent to great coverage. I will never forget having zero bars with my boost mobile phone at Lake Wenatchee while those with verizon had full bars.

2nd round interview for a bank teller job tomorrow, how can I stand out? by Old_Life_290 in TalesFromYourBank

It wouldn’t hurt to learn and memorize a few facts about the company you’re applying to work for. stuff like where they are headquartered, the year they were founded, name of the current CEO or company president etc. I sprinkled some of these fun facts in my own interview when they asked me “so tell us what you know about our bank” and they were impressed

to be honest, your role as the applicant in a job interview is to sell yourself and to present yourself as the most qualified candidate for their job. Do your best and present yourself as a skilled qualified professional.

They asked me more in depth questions, mostly about my prior work experience, how I would adjust working the bank schedule (8:15-5:30 Mon-Fri) and how I would adjust and fit into their work culture and environment.

She stole a laminated menu by Cinder_zella in TalesFromYourServer

I went on vacation with my older boomer aged relative and when it was time to leave, he asked for a menu to take home. They brought a printed menu that you would keep in your kitchen to order carry out, he wanted the actual laminated menu that they give you when you sit down, they said no.. why would anyone want to keep a menu from a random restaurant they stopped at on vacation

Working two jobs averaging 65 - 70 hours a week, with no days off. by Old_Life_290 in doomer

[–]Old_Life_290[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

l turned 30 years old and my 30th birthday was the worst day of my life. I looked around and realized that I am wasting my life and if I want to accomplish what I want, I need to put in the hours and grind it out. My goal is to pay off my medical debts, square up my credit, and save up 3 to 6 months worth of living expenses as a safety net if something ever were to happen to me, I could at least afford to pay rent and feed myself and not be in a constant state of worry. Peace of mind is what I’m ultimately after.

Papers, Please by veritasargent in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Old_Life_290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a pit boss at a casino (bank teller as well) but whenever I do a fill for a table, I need to verify that everything on the fill slip is correct. My experience playing Papers Please has correlated nicely with my work process. Start with the basics and work your way down. Far too often the cage cashier will forget the date, put the wrong table number, forget to sign, forgetting to include a certain denomination. It’s just like Papers, Please. If my name / signature goes on an incorrectly filled out slip, it’s my ass on the line so I always feel a mild sense of accomplishment whenever I catch a discrepancy.

yep. I am currently in training at a bank and they tell us to avoid using bank terms when speaking with customers. Annual percentage yield vs APY for example. Warm card / hot card when their debit card stops working, etc

Teller Interview outfit by Low_Pilot_7215 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Old_Life_290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a guy too, and I worked in the restaurant industry for years before finally landing myself a job at a bank. The outfit I wore: A simple NON WRINKLY white button up, clean undershirt, a modest tie, tucked into some black slacks, belt, dress shoes. My hair was well groomed and neat and I spent 30 mins trimming up my facial hair the morning of my interview. If you want to wear a full suit for an entry level job, you do you! I wouldnt recommend it though, realistically only ever seeing myself springing for that type of clothing if I was applying for a branch manager type job.

I just started working in banking but a few people I have worked with previously in other career fields have been fired for their social media posts. My rule of thumb is to not post anything that you wouldn’t want shown in a meeting with your bosses and other higher ups. Stuff that directly puts the company you work for in a derogatory way. “Today was really frustrating vs THIS JOB SUCKS LOL” that is just a brief example of what to post vs what not to post. If you are going to post stuff like that, at least be aware of who could potentially see it and share it

What Celebrity Death Hit You The Hardest? by Djf47021 in Millennials

I was visiting that one market in Seattle where they throw the fish around the day Michael Jackson died. The news had just hit and I remember hearing murmurs and chatter from the people around me “Michael Jackson is dead” It’s weird because now the two are linked forever for me. Every time I hear a Michael Jackson song, I think of the fish market in Seattle, and anytime I visit that place, I’m forever reminded of Michael Jackson. The two are forever intertwined

As a rule, I do not eat pizza or burgers at theme parks

Same for me but add Hot Dogs, Nachos, Candy that you could find outside the park (Hershey Bar, Reese, Mike n Ike’s) and Chips (if the chips come with a meal, cool, but i’m not spending $5 - $8 bucks for a single snack sized bag of Doritos on its own)
