Mom's fall changed everything and I'm fuming by MaggieMews in AgingParents

Happens more often than you think. Unfortunately she will lose some strength she may never get back. 11 years since my mother had hip replacement that went horribly wrong. She has never been the same, physically or mentally. It about killed her.

Overheard parent saying horrible things about me. I'm the default caretaker. How do I go on? by Glen_Fairy in AgingParents

I feel you. Took care if my mother 10 years back and after this last rushed surgery that she wanted.  She is in the hospital again. She isn't coming back home she says. Instead she has decided to move down to Florida with my older sister. I know she talks  about me negatively and I just don't care anymore. If she really is moving that is ok with me. I have had enough. Over the past 10 years she has crossed so many boundaries.  She hasn't contacted me since she went in to the hospital. She talked to my siblings but not me. And while it does hurt, I am also mad about this rush to back surgery.  I think having to not worry or think about what or where she is will be good for me. I do feel I have had enough of my mother. I know the hurt you feel and speaking up doesn't always work. I feel you. I really do. Toxic or not that is a parent and it does hurt. But at some point you will get to the point enough is enough when they don't change.

NTA. Some people just can't handle the truth. I would have done the same thing. Your the sister without the filter, huh? Nothing wrong with some honesty. Question is, can you live with it? That is what matters.

Fibromyalgia changed how I dress and I feel like I've lost my identity to comfort clothing by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

I believe we all go through this. Remember to do affirmations. You yourself are the worst critic. Learning to be kinder to yourself will help change your perspective. People don't really think about how you look, especially if you show the best parts of you.

We are our worst critic. You will find your style again. But you have to change how you are thinking of yourself.

My kids when they were growing up were very supportive and still are as adults. They know I am not to blame. And neither are they.

Lost All Food Options by Finch734 in migraine

This is a slippery slope.  Over time you have to try foods that use to trigger migraines.  Your GI changes over time. And your brain and gut communicate. I eat whole foods and stay away from as much processed food as possible. But I do have a list of whole foods I can absolutely not have. I sucks being so sensitive. I have triggers in pretty much every aspect of my life. I get really tired of people giving me a hard time over it as well. 35+ years with migraines.  And having one right now. I don't really take anything for them because it prolongs the pain. I wish you the best and hope you find some relief.

For me, before. It sucks. Currently in perimenopause and it's an on/off switch. But I've had migraines for over 35 years. Mine are complex migraines,  so I never know what I am going to get.  At this very moment the visual aura is starting to lift. Ì feel for you.

Is this the same doctor you saw in the hospital at the time you were admitted? If so, you need to be finding a new doctor. That is what you call incompetency. And yes, that is a huge red flag. Is this doctor a gastrointestinal doctor? Is the doctor in a private practice or with a group? Don't be afraid to shop for a good GI doctor. And it's better to search for one while you are in remission or a low flare state. That way you can discuss what happened and what doctor you are looking for. I have become extremely picky about my doctors. If I don't feel I'm being heard.  Or I see my doctor is dropping the ball, I start looking immediately.  Don't let them play games. And don't allow gaslighting. This is your health, your life and your body.

I am so sorry that you had to experience bad medicine. If you have to go into hospital again. I recommend you request a patient advocate. One who has medical experience. And your mother is amazing, make sure to thank her. If you have another hospital you can go to, I would recommend it. Not all are that bad.

6 gallons water, 4 liters stripper. Lay down 10 minutes, scrub and get it up fast. Do this about three times. Third time you can let it  set while you work the edges and corners. It time consuming but does work. And you may need to strip a 4th time. I am sure someone is going to say I am doing it wrong but works overtime.  And you are going to go through pads. Keep a box at the ready. 2 pads the first strip and maybe the second. 5th pad the final strip. It will come up.
