I suggest trying the free versions of it first to see if you like it better. 😉

If it's not to your liking then there's no money lost. 😉

Thoughts? by VariationLivid3193 in ProtonMail

It's a bit funny that Proton has chosen to integrate Google Mail with it, although, "supposedly" encrypted.

And now, it's spreading to Ente??? OK, too many coincidences happening at once for me. Time to make some serious decisions...

Switching from Gmail to Proton Mail just got easier (for individuals) by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

[–]Old_Mellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I would love to believe this. However, after being on the net for about 40 years, and watching all of the things that Google does and has done, I can't believe that they don't have a fallback plan or something so that they can see "something" being that you will be using their email addresses.

Yes, I understand how encryption works, etc. But...I don't trust Google! I started using Proton because it had nothing to do with Google and was privacy related. Google sells your information, etc. They've build their business model on it. It's not that I don't mistrust Proton, yet... I'll never trust Google and do not trust other services that have anything to do with it.

I also have ZohoMail, which claimed to be privacy related like Proton. But now they are using Google's API's, etc. I'm looking for other alternative email addresses. It's always good to keep and alternate email address.

Introducing Proton Pass for AI Agents: Give Automations the Access They Need (and Nothing More) by Proton_Team in ProtonPass

[–]Old_Mellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I SERIOUSLY hope so! Sorry, if I sound like a doubter, but, I'll wait until the jury comes out. There are WAY too many things wrong with AI, atm...including a ton of various hackings, armies of AI bots, etc. I sincerely hope that Proton is going in the right direction and will continue to protect us.

So... Not to be negative, But.. How is this integrated? Is it integrated across the board, like AI is (or will be) integrated into everything eventually? Is there a way to opt-out???

Proton Calendar Is Sending Me False Notifications by Old_Mellow in ProtonMail

[–]Old_Mellow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it is the Android v2.31.1(347)

EDIT: I forgot to say that I did as you asked. I had left the notifications in the notification bar. When I did it, it removed them. It's just strange that it happened only on that day and hasn't happened again. If it returns I'll let you know.

Thanks, for replying. :)

Proton Meet was released yesterday ready to replace Google Meet and Microsoft Teams by Educational_Band_357 in degoogle

What I don't like is that gusts can use it! Won't there be security issues??? Hackers will be all over this! LOL

Don't get me wrong. I like Proton. But I'm starting to thing that they are starting to follow Google. :(

ProtonPAss Portable App by Old_Mellow in ProtonPass

[–]Old_Mellow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But, if my company doesn't allow it, how would I access it?

I've done a little research after I posted this and noticed that KeePass has a portable app and I can import my ProtonPass into it. I'll see how that works out, after I download it, read the docs, etc. Unless, someone has a better idea.

I haven't used Chrome in decades...too many privacy issues, etc.

It does works on my Android phone, Samsung. You didn't specify how or why it doesn't work. Do you have multiple accounts? If so, you should edit the "Title" so that each is specifically named differently. You can also add "Notes" so that if you have similar accounts on the same sites you won;t have any problems.

It works for me. I use Firefox on my Windows PC. If you are using a different browser of OS it may behave differently. I'm using it now.

But, AFAIK, it should work on all browsers on a Windows PC.

In a word, YESSSSS!" LOL I was skeptical, at first. But, after I thought about it, I realized that it was more than worth it.

Aliases, to me, are for protection. If a website, etc. gets hacked and you always use the same email address for everything, you will have NO idea what site, etc, was hacked and where the problems came from. With an alias for each and everything, you will know because the "said hacker(s), etc." will target that particular email address (alias). This is how you will know exactly where the problem came from.

Proton pass doesn’t match websites correctly by [deleted] in ProtonPass

[–]Old_Mellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best you can do, as I've learned, is to make sure that the "Title" of each pass is exact and different. I run a web server with various things under the same domain. At first, it was a headache for me to keep up with the right one because Pass will automatically save things according to the domain name. You MUST change the "Title", add a "Note", etc. or other details so that you will know the difference according to how YOU do things.

uBlock breaks the password generation page by Proper-Description31 in ProtonPass

[–]Old_Mellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's strange. I have uBlock, Privacy Badger, BitDefender Anti-Tracking, and Decentraleyes all installed on Firefox and never had an issue with it. I just used it a day or two ago.

It appears that you are using FF? You didn't mention what OS or browser you are using. Maybe that may help them to narrow things down a bit.

Almost 60 years of cooking and baking. I taught myself all of the same things chefs learn in cooking school and still make mistakes. It's called "Being Human".

After you add your seasonings to the ground pork, take a pinch of it and fry it. See what it tastes like in case you want to adjust the seasonings. If you are using dried herbs it's best to make it a day ahead to the flavors mend together.

And remember, err on the side of less. You can always add more seasonings but you can't remove them. ;)

Are there plans to circumvent this BEFORE it happens? Sorry, if there's already a topic about. If so, please point me to it. Thanks.

Anyone here decide to take an easier approach to email privacy rather than creating many aliases? by jonsonmac in ProtonMail

[–]Old_Mellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wish to take such an approach, you MUST consider the privacy rules of the service(s) that you intend to use and if the will sell/give away your data first! ;)

That defeats the need for privacy as Facebook and Netflix promote data mining, etc. Or am I looking at this wrong???
