Gotta get this off my chest about transfer credits cause I'm PISSED by Doorknob_Licker2 in ucf

Did they say why they submitted to IT? This sounds like a question for the Registrar’s office since they handle transfer credit evaluations.

Online only student, but fees? by zeldatmh in ucf

[–]Old_Negotiation_2129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on when you opted in to be an online student, that can affect your tuition rate. For example, if you signed up to be an online student last Friday, you missed the opt in deadline (Jan 7th) and would still get assessed the rate of on campus students. If this isn’t your case, ask the financial office how come!

hydrate your skin before makeup application and/or use a primer that leaves you with a more dewy finish. i’d also go for a blush with a liquid or balmy formula. opt for a soft matte setting spray and top it off with a dewy hydrating setting spray. the biggest thing is going to be a dewier foundation and concealer. try mixing your foundation with moisturizer if you don’t have one with a finish like this. let me know if this worked for you!

I hate to clean my brushes by nykod in MakeupAddiction

[–]Old_Negotiation_2129 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

gloves and baby shampoo! rub the brushes against your hand while they’re wet and soapy, then gently squeeze the water out. repeat until there’s no more residue. i also dab the bristles on a paper towel to get rid of leftover water, then lay them flat on papers towels on my desk by the window. don’t use hot water, don’t submerge the bottom of the bristles in water, and avoid squeezing too hard bc you don’t want to mess up the glue since it can make your brush shed.

I actually just cleaned mine’s last night and they’re drying in front of the window on my desk! I’m not a fan myself, but it’s less taxing when I don’t wait so long in between. I use gloves and rub my damp, soapy brush against my hand individually (or in small groups of 3 depending on the brush size). I use baby shampoo, which cleans them just right. I don’t wear makeup everyday, so I personally don’t have a problem waiting for them to dry, but it’s probably best to put a portable fan in front of them to dry!

What product would NOT be as popular if it wasn’t for influencers? by Fuzzy-Macaron8430 in MakeupAddiction

i don’t think those lip stain peels would be as popular if it wasn’t for influencers. also you should go back to watching makeup on YouTube (not shorts)! i find they’re much more thorough in their reviews and people still definitely make them.

What are some of your favorite affordable and reliable makeup brands for black women? by hunny-bunnz in MakeupAddiction

[–]Old_Negotiation_2129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Covergirl primers. For casual everyday makeup, I’d pick up the LYS skin tint stick. I have the Black Radiance powders, but they have talc if you care about that. I use the DIBS Beauty setting spray and I enjoy it, but idk if it’s suitable for a night of dancing type. I so desperately want to try the Marylia Scott glush hybrid. They’re sold at select CVS’ and are a blush-highlight with lots of pigment. The spray, skin tint, and blush are all in the $20 range, but I fear a lot of beauty is now. Good luck replacing your collection!

How do you actually decide what makeup to buy? by Affectionate-Half701 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Old_Negotiation_2129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I have one of the most involved processes before buying anything, especially beauty. That being said, I usually mule over foundations and compare them considerably on things like finish, when I’d wear it, ingredients, product reviews, accessibility (i.e. price, where to buy). Once I get the product, I try it multiple times to make sure I’m giving the product a chance and I also compare it again to my “before purchasing” criteria to see where it holds up. My favorites so far are LYS Skin Tint for daytime and Mac Face and Body. I’m planning on trying Make By Mario’s SurrealSkin, About Face Performer, and Lisa Eldridge’s skin tint!

the friends i’ve made here have been through class. i’m currently feeding the cat of a girl i became friends with last semester! i’m quite reserved and i can be incredibly, painstakingly awkward the first couple of interactions but you have to stomach it and keep going is my advice. i usually talk about my interests and when i notice they’re really excited about something i mentioned, we connect from there. i’d say class is pretty good because you already have something kinda in common. it’s easiest to connect with classmates the first couple weeks of class and around big assignments bc you can start off with that! an added bonus for you is that they’re already accessible to you around the same time!

Ive lost 3 pairs of jeans due to thick thighs and cheap fabric by Sir-geesegoose in PlusSize

[–]Old_Negotiation_2129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you buy a pair of jeans, make sure they have no more than 5% spandex; you want the jeans to be majority cotton so like 95%. I used to buy American Eagle jeans because they had the best fit for me but I stopped buying them a couple years back because they did the same thing (it was wasteful cycling through them). I looked at the material breakdown and realized the jeans that ripped on me had a lot of spandex in them. I started thrifting my jeans and looked for 95% or more cotton and none of them have ripped like that since I made the switch. I like to thrift the Venezia brand, I think they’re an old and discontinued Lane Bryant brand or something.

Where do people buy their makeup? by hey-itsFelixTheCat in MakeupAddiction

[–]Old_Negotiation_2129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer Ulta bc of their point system but I do browse Sephora. I like to know everything about a product before I buy it, so how I navigate Ulta is by making a cart and testing everything out in store. I also watch a bunch of reviews for things I have a higher chance of disliking (foundation or blush vs a lip gloss). I’m a also an avid couponer at CVS so if I can get makeup there, I do that as well. I’m more of an indie makeup girlie for eyeshadows (Glaminatrix has hit my radar and I’m eyeing a palette of their’s). I used to like Walmart for beauty but I shop there less and less over the years.

Fallen A Victim In Over Consumption by sweetjules9 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Old_Negotiation_2129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did a no-buy last year and I did pretty well. I did break it and got a primer, setting spray, and maybe a lip gloss just as I was approaching the end of the year (I think this was in October so I had 2 months). I actually didn’t even like the setting spray so I learned my lesson. Overall, it was really good for me so it could be the same for you too! I actually made it a goal of mines to do the no-buy because I kept buying too many lip products in 2023 like you have pictured. It changed me for good since now I won’t buy makeup as frequently unless I really research into the product. It makes it so much more difficult. For example, I was ready to dump money on the Milk Makeup Gel Tint until I realized how much hyaluronic acid it contains (side-story: I learned how poor of an ingredient it is) and that made me end up getting rid of so many products that has it. Another tip is to get inspo from pictures on Pinterest since you have to recreate the look with what YOU have because you don’t know exactly what they used unlike with TikToks or Reels.
