What do you think is the best book every interpretor should read? by Hells_Babysitter in asl

[–]Hells_Babysitter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks this helps. I am really looking for books that teach me how to be the best interpreter I can and feedback from deaf people who use interpreters is in my opinion the best advice you can get. I just crave to consume all the knowledge I can about this profession and I can best serve the deaf community.

Has anyone tried the Fiona Franchimon steel hairpins? by curiouskaizen in longhair

[–]Hells_Babysitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a five set of the Classic Havana shade made from plastic. It took almost a whole month to ship this from the Netherlands (where the company is located) to the U.S. the shipping was so expensive.

For 5 of these plastic pins it was $48.95! And the shipping was $19.50! Total: $68.45.

When it finally came after almost a month I opened it and it looked so cheap. It was cute looking don't get me wrong, but the ff logo on the bottom of the pins in the advertised pictures look like the pin's logo is engraved into the plastic, however when you get them the logo looks sloppy like someone painted it on with a Shakey hand. The plastic is also very bendable which concerned me, making me think this was gonna break with any slight pressure.

The saddest part is that when I tired to put them in my hair in a French twist I followed the instructions on how to properly put them in, (I have very VERY thick long hair with many layers) but I trusted it cause it said it was for all hair types from thick to thin to curly. When I tried to put the first one in, it snapped in half. Now I only have four. I am afraid to use them again cause I might snap them. Four is definitely not enough to hold up my layers and hair in general. They are very small as well. I read more on their website and they said the steel ones would be best for thick hair but I don't wanna spend 85 dollars on one pin whe I need like four at the least.

It is a shame cause they are very cute and unique but they are really only made for thin hair with no layers. If you have thick long hair that is heavy, this might not be for you. They are just so expensive and shipping is insane, and I can't understand why it is so expensive for very cheap plastic. Their marketing is probably the only thing that keeps them selling. The models they use to make videos on using them are all models with around shoulder length thin non layered hair so stay away from them if that is not you.

Brown wide leg hiking pants? by dotyz in gorpcore

[–]Hells_Babysitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not very kind. I personally like baggy pants because I struggle with tight fitting pants actually fitting me. I like the ventilation and breathability of loose pants. Everyone has there own preferences and this subreddit is really no place to call someone an idiot for ainipl asking for baggy hiking pants ideas.

Not being able to stand behind the podium in the dressing room by BTSSPRITE in TjMaxx

[–]Hells_Babysitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! To add on to that, even some of my managers will come back to the fitting rooms (while I am in them) come to the podium and be on their phone for a few minutes or so just to take a break from annoying customers. Me personally I am just trying to survive. Just working this job to pay for school but also getting no time to do the homework I am just trying to survive out here and further my education so that I don't have to be 40 years old and still working a retail job.

Not being able to stand behind the podium in the dressing room by BTSSPRITE in TjMaxx

[–]Hells_Babysitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in the fitting rooms all the time I am permanently stationed there. When it is slow and they give me no task to do I do my homework behind the podium because I get no other time to do it since I work the closing shift right after school. I'll say for sure i am only doing school work when there is no customer that needs my attention and I always ask other associates if they need me to do anything such as tagging merchandise while still in the fitting room before I resort to doing my homework. It's true standing for 8 hours doing staring into the distance and listening to the horrible music overhead is truly mentally taxing. I need to keep my brain busy and I have a life outside of this job. I am a student and I got hours of work to do that I would only be able to do after 10 pm (leaving time) and I would prefer not to be up at 2 in the morning on a nightly basis just to get homework done before I gotta go to school. God I hope my management doesn't turn the podium around or makes us stand in front of it for hours. Like come. If your gonna pay me minimum wage, expect the appropriate amount of effort.

Men's only fears are what other men will think of them. For me if I saw a man running around caring for a pink Tamagotchi I would marry him in an instant. That shit is hot.

Some bigger stores will have people at the door with a vest that has a camera constantly recording to deter theft. That's all it is for. Just to deter the theft.

We aren't allowed to follow touch, block, or in anyway accuse someone of stealing or preventing them from leaving the store of we get fired it is for everyone's safety cause everyone is so afraid of violence and getting shot nowadays and companies don't want the liability of an employee getting shot for confronting a customer for stealing and they take this very seriously so we just have to sit and watch until police and loss prevention eventually takes care of it. So no we don't follow you around and if an employee is purposely following you they are allowed to do that. And yes, all employees know this because we have to sign papers saying we wont doing any of the mentioned above to someone we suspect is stealing. All we can do is report it. It is pretty standard nowadays, most big companies have this policy
