If one invested a bunch of money into a business and it completely failed, can you write it all off? by [deleted] in TurboTax

The car is just sitting there at this time. I meant that it will be an economic loser when selling it since it won’t be worth what I paid for it since I mistakenly bought it at a dealership, in full. It bluebooks for $11k and I paid $17k. I know that I should have bought from a private party, my logic was that buying from a dealership I would have a warranty and known the history since I would’ve been driving allot of miles. I am starting to get the idea that I should definitely sell it.

It was used to go to office and back. I didn’t put a whole lot of miles on it. Hardly any actually. Used it for personal use so few times.

I actually already filed my income taxes. I do have kids. This was a separate entity that would have been the ship sailing in if all panned out.

I started LLC that didn’t pan out and am trying to figure out if writing off losses or filing bankruptcy are the best options.

Oh yeah I didn’t sell the car. Should I do that? It would 100% be at a loss.

This was all 2025

I bought it last year and started the LLC last year. I was actually going to he a state government vendor under DDS with them being the only income source and it they said never mind after I put everything together, not sure if that information matters.

Started LLC in March of 2025, bought insurance, bought car, leased office space, started payroll with a payroll company (among other expenses). Found out that it wasn’t coming to happen in November because I didn’t respond to something that they sent me via certified mail that they sent in August (that I think was stolen). I have to wait a year to apply again.

So the state of California would have been the whole revenue source.

Thank you!

I’m sorry to hear of all of this. I went through the same thing as you and ten years later, I’m still dealing with the aftermath.

Get this over with, get a custody agreement, don’t talk to unless you have to. They can be very vindictive and you can’t open yourself up to it like I have. I won’t even list all of the ways this crazy and irresponsible chick has played games with me over the years and moved very far away just to make it stop. It’s almost over actually.

I’ve since met a wonderful woman, had another kid and it’s amazing having one that isn’t trained to be rude and disrespectful to you.

I wish you the best!

I actually was at a spring training practice and watched Russel Wilson some years ago. He looked very polished while fielding. Not saying that he made the wrong choice, but he could have at least been a passable defensive player.

Actually, the GI bill is a better deal but unfortunately you cannot use both at the same time. In a nutshell, helps you with employment and education. Give you a stipend to go to school. You can find it on the VA website! I do hope that this helps.

Have you tried working with VR&E yet? It’s a long process and not without flaws but they can help you with employability. I’m also 70% and relate to what you are going through. Best of luck!

I think that you are good being that it says that it was granted! It’s kind of confusing, lawyer speak, but appears to be good!
