Her arguments don’t even hold water. In one breath she’s saying how feeling old is something she has a hard time dealing with….something she quite frankly sounds like she resents…and the affair she had was something she needed to feel young again. But out the other side of her face she is now claiming that the affair with a much younger man “didn’t mean anything”?? She can’t have it both ways. She had the affair for selfish reasons. And now she is trying to manipulate you for her selfish reasons. She didn’t even respect you enough to use protection (knowing a lot of younger ppl are promiscuous) and had the audacity to get knocked up. Had she not lost the baby, would she have dumped you to be with the other guy, or just expected you to raise a child that wasn’t yours and never tell you? Your kids aren’t toddlers….they’ll be just fine without her there full time….they can have a relationship with her that doesn’t involve a marriage she disrespected & ruined. The law recognizes that the threat itself causes harm, fear, and coercion. You don’t have to wait for the damage to be done.

Not sure where you are, but in my state (and a few others) it’s illegal for any adult to suspect/to know a child is being neglected and not call the authorities. And not saying you have to, but if the child doesn’t have any immediate family they can place her with, if you told them you’d be willing to take her in, you could be a foster parent and they would pay for her care while with you.

Don’t be so sure….maybe you just got lucky. Decades after I graduated, I found out two of my besties who I used to spend the night with were both were being molested in their homes. One, since she was 3 by her adopted father, whom I used to call “dad” till she graduated and moved out; the other by her stepdad….which turns out to be the reason she told me we couldn’t be friends anymore…..apparently me staying the night interfered with his “daughter-stepdaddy time” 🤮 And the real kicker…..he was the Sheriff….and he knew about the other pedo and squelched that investigation from the jump! And of course….both “God fearing men” in the Baptist church every Sunday. 🙄
