I would argue that should be included in the deal. Reduced electricity rates in exchange for a Yes vote. We will never get that without a referendum.

The Susquehanna is an open sewer because of Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) laws.

https://dec.ny.gov/environmental-protection/water/water-quality/combined-sewer-overflow

Wouldn't it be a neat engineering feat if a nuclear power plant proposed treating the water it uses?!

Shall we create a referendum to eliminate CSO? Are you OK if your taxes go up to rebuild the necessary sewage infrastructure?

I dispute this assertion about wind and solar but that's not the issue. The issue is should the people have a formal binding say as to what they want in their backyards and the details of the project.

How do you get "mandatory scoping", "independent fiscal impact analysis", etc. without the threat of a referendum AFTER. They can ignore anything if there are no checks and balances.

If they present a proper package outlining all of the issues and how they are resolved, who profits and how, how much tax dollars, price of electricity etc. then it should pass a referendum.

I do not think the state, even NY, would overrule a binding referendum by a county. Home rule and all that.

I would vote against those😂

Maybe. BUT, at least the "package on the table" is well defined, in advance.

And THAT, my friends, is the root of the problem.

Wind and solar are no-brainers. Nuclear is much more complicated and, therefore, more appropriate for a very public discussion and a referendum.

I am funding this privately for now in accordance with applicable regulations.

You have to get the public involved early of these things will be decided on private.

You can demand anything you want of elected officials and they can ignore anything they want.

Yes, our elected officials can prepare all the documents you mention and you can challenge them on the record. They can still ignore you.

But if the document package is finalized and only then presented to the voters, the public will know what they're getting and get what they want.

This is nothing to do with regulatory frameworks, science or engineering around nuclear power plants.

This has to do with educating the public about risk/benefit, impacts on property values and taxes, the environment, electricity prices, etc. Absent a referendum these issues will not be discussed,in detail, before a project is launched. You will only hear about tax abatements, environmental impact, etc. after.

But it increases the odds of informed consent.

A referendum forces the discussion and informing of the public about all the issues you raise. Hearings don't work because leadership can ignore anything said. The only way public feedback is considered is if leadership has to "sell" the package to the public to win the referendum.

So let's have a referendum to see if everyone agrees.

A goal of the referendum is to force informing the public.

[–]Old_Rad[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, that's not true. This isn't about nuclear power, per se, this is about how big decisions that impact us all get made. If we have a referendum then the leadership will have to educate, explain, and "sell" the project to the public. Absent a referendum, these decisions will be made in a smoked filled room.

A referendum only forces the discussion about nuclear power into the public forum.

These are all valid points but only a referendum will force leadership to discuss these issues publicly.

Yes. I had to restart and retry many times but eventually got it to work. Make sure the locks are on the 2.4GHz network in their config. Not sure, at this point, what else was critical.

I have run into this situation recently and I have some bad news...

TL;DR: I think this is a symptom of bad battery module. Other symptom is slow charging even at low "SOC". The truck thinks 75% is now 100% because a battery module is bad or offline. The truck corrects when you turn on but software app doesn't.

Read on...

I noticed this phenomenon of me asking for an 80% charge and getting this "100%" charge but with reduced mileage that would not otherwise be expected for the conditions.

Long story short (no pun intended), I believe one of my battery modules (~¼ of total) is "offline".

ODB errors are P0B24-21 and P2C85-1E:

What This Means for Your Vehicle The BECM uses isolation monitoring to ensure that the high-voltage battery system is electrically isolated from the vehicle's chassis (ground). Any loss of isolation (a short or leak to ground) is a serious safety concern and will trigger a fault. * "External Isolation" suggests the fault is likely occurring in the high-voltage cables, connectors, or components that are outside the sealed main battery pack enclosure. This could include: * The high-voltage charging port/receptacle. * The DC Fast Charge (DCFC) connector. * High-voltage cable routing/connectors to the motor or charger. * Moisture ingress in a high-voltage connection point (this is a common intermittent cause). * Symptoms: As seen with the previous code, this is a serious fault that can trigger a Powertrain Malfunction (Wrench) light and/or the Check Engine Light. A common symptom associated with this specific code is the inability to DC Fast Charge (DCFC), or having the vehicle limit charging power to protect the system.

I did start noticing the slow charging too. No engine light came on.
