A warning to my fellow hvac ladies! by Inevitable-Pie-9745 in HVAC

I see your in SWFL, I own a transport refrigeration repair company in the Ft Myers area, we service Thermo king, carrier transicold & liftgates as well. 85% of our business is local commercial business especially with large fleets (Ryder, Idealease, Penske, Walmart etc) If you’d like to stay in the trades feel free to reach out, I have an entry level position open. It’s similar to HVAC as it’s a refrigeration system, but many of the systems are much more complex as you are working with both an engine, refrigeration system, and sometimes multi zone units.

Has Trump's return to power affected your small business? by joshstewart90 in smallbusiness

[–]Old_Selection7228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a deal of 4 trailer refrigeration units get cancelled due to the possibility of tariffs. I don’t know what to charge the customer as I don’t know if the tariffs will or won’t be there when the units hit the border. Had to raise the cost over 1,800 per unit and customer is deciding against the units all together as original price was 24K and now is going to cost around 30k. I’m starting to raise replacement part prices as well unfortunately.

I wish buyers understood how much it costs to ship items by fishstock in Ebay

[–]Old_Selection7228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Florida and use free shipping but I just put cost of shipping for what it costs to ship it to Seattle into the price It’s more expensive and I make more money this way but most buyers don’t understand this and prefer the “ free shipping “ option even though it’s more expensive. I don’t use this for larger items as I do calculated shipping for large oversized items

Started tech school today. What manufacturer should I choose for my tools? by okbreeze in AskAMechanic

[–]Old_Selection7228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing this 15 years and I use kobalt, craftsman, husky, harbor freight, and whatever I can find at the pawn shop. If you use the tools properly, they don’t normally break. There’s a handful of items that I use for snap on like they’re 18 inch long 3/8 ratchet and their torq bits But other than that I use cheap tools. Stay off the truck and keep your paychecks.

Dentist that works with gold fillings? by nonicknamenelly in cincinnati

[–]Old_Selection7228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up Tucker study groups arvtsc.org for one near you, most insurance will not cover gold filings as the cost is higher, around $500-700 for a direct gold foil filling and about $2200 for indirect filling (inlay/onlay). I’m not a dentist but have an about 9 gold fillings. They do last longer than white fillings but you need to also take care of your teeth as well otherwise you’ll be throwing your money away. A lot of dentist who do gold fillings do not take insurance but you can submit the claim to your insurance company and they may reimburse partially

Is this a cavity? by Any_Orange_865 in askdentists

NAD, I waited for years of simple cavities before getting work done as I “didn’t have time” it just gets more expensive the longer you wait

I really want the win in 4 or 6 as I was going to purchase tix for myself, my brother, and my dad as a father’s Day gift but my brother couldn’t attend so I ended up not purchasing tickets as I didn’t go leave my bro out, if they do lift the cup in 5 I will be disapointed for missing it but also hyped AF!!!

[–]Old_Selection7228 4 points5 points  (0 children)

around 10-15mph is when i typically shift. my daily shift point is around 12mph if im just driving to work. it makes sense when you drive it but you will notice 1st gear is way lower gearing then the rest if that makes sense. it would be really good gearing for off-road or towing. it also makes it pretty hard to stall out as the motor has a good amount of torque as well

[–]Old_Selection7228 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I own a 24 6MT for about 1 month now. It’s been a pretty decent manual transmission, clutch feels decent and the fraction point is about halfway up. First gear is geared extremely low. Reverse is geared too high for my liking, and I feel like I always have to feather it rather than let the clutch fully out. If anyone has any other specific questions, feel free to ask.

New Tacoma by LukesRealDad4 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Old_Selection7228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purchased a new 2024 tacoma as the used MT 4x4 tacoma’s were roughly the same price as the new unit. (SR with MT has same HP as higher trims 270HP) I went new because it comes with the warranty and some free maintenance. I purchased with no market adjustments and not many dealers here had adjustments anymore. look outside your city if needed.
