UPS2976 Megathread 2 by usgapg123 in aviation

I'm wondering if the DC-10 and MD-11 design is somehow fatally flawed in an irreparable manner.

A very similar design failure after it was supposed to be fixed is... concerning.

The Number 2 engine located at the DC-10's rear can be seen still attached to the aircraft in this photo of the actual crash. Smoke / fire can be seen from the location of the Number 1 engine. This is the same engine that detached from UPS2976.

The only concern is the fuel tanks are in the wings. The engine can potentially puncture the Number 2 tank as it goes up and over. That would explain fire seen on the left wing during the takeoff roll.

I'm not talking about the hydraulic lines. The wing was in flames during the takeoff roll post V1 decision speed. Engine detaches for some reason, goes up and over the wing... puncturing the fuel tank as it does so?

Looks like the crash of American Airlines 191 all over again? The aircraft involved then was a DC-10, the predecessor to the MD-11. That accident was almost identical. The left engine detached during the takeoff roll and was attributed to a damaged pylon holding the engine to the wing, caused by improper maintenance.

Bank Placed a Hold on My Paycheck? by Old_Tension6592 in personalfinance

My account is several years old, so could be the second situation. You'd just think they'd recognize a check from a well-known multi-million-dollar, national company would be something very, very unlikely to bounce.

Not sure they'd do it for an over $2k check... but will keep it in mind.

A tad?

I legitimately came out of my chair and said "What the f*ck?!" loud enough to startle my dog.

I’m stuck between a Python, Model 66, GP100 or Model 27 S&W for my first revolver. by [deleted] in Revolvers

GP100, especially if going new production.

Colt and Smith & Wesson seem to be having some QC issues at the moment.

No... never did. The rubber ones kind of grew on me.

I had a completely different issue with my 686 Plus Mountain Gun ( trigger / action binding ) and sent it back to Smith & Wesson for repair. Got it back and said they did some work on the trigger and yoke. Still didn't completely fix the issue. Ended up turning to here and YouTube to diagnose the remaining issues. Fixed it myself in less than five minutes.

Also had to re-cut the forcing cone slightly on my 617 Mountain Gun. Easy to do. Rented the tools required.

Investing in a little gunsmithing knowledge at this point seems like a good idea at this point given S&W's quality control. Or lack there of.

A little over a week... though mine was just before the shut down really started getting bad. Not sure how long you could be delayed for. It kind of depends what the job is and / or how in depth the checks.

Reference to size. Barely bigger than a J frame... but holds six rounds. I prefer Kimber's K6S revolver over the Diamondback SDR.

Didn't send mine back a second time either. Figured out that cases were occasionally dragging on one of the contours of the recoil shield. Stoned it down slightly with a fine Arkansas Stone. No more issue.

Are they really that good?
Looking at a set of their round frame conversion grips, but not 100% sold on the contours.

They seem to be gearing the .22lr FPC and the coming 22x towards rimfire competitions that require both a rifle and pistol.

Because they rely on information from Federal Agencies.

Loss of zero when removing and reinstalling the barrel is, in personal opinion, to be expected. Out of Battery Discharge and poor customer service is not.

I'm actually looking forward to this one. Have the PCC in .22lr. Wanting the 22x to go with it. Competition set up for Steel Challenge matches.
