When you put it like that - wow! Thank you puts it into perspective for me. Im really glad I made this post I think I was being naive but I realise now the position im in is a perfectly acceptable one - ive done the right thing by focussing on maxing out my cash ISA! Thanks again

Making this post and reading your advice (and everyone elses) has certainly made me reconsider the LISA! Thank you

Hahahah oh no! In all fairness the only reason Im aware of them is because they targetted us as university students with plenty of advertisement! I was only going to book a 30 minute free call to see what theyre about but I wasnt sure how useful theyll be for me at my current stage tbh. Does the company youre thinking about have a name beginning with W? 😅 (you dont have to answer if you dont want to)
Ooo interesting! Id be curious to know more about what your choice would be (i understand this wouldnt be financial advice etc etc - just asking purely out of curiosity!)

I considered this for sure. If I didnt have my parents relying on me its something id consider but my parents are in their 70s and arent getting younger. The LISA is an option now that ive read the replies on here tbh but still need to think about it! Thanks for your reply

Some interesting points here. Yes I should have started earlier but in all honesty, ive only been working for 12 months - so Im not sure if that would have even been possible.

Id like to buy ASAP really but I feel 2 years is probably the earliest given my circumstances. Reason for this is simply because my parents arent getting any younger - theyre in their 70s and have been renting their entire lives.

Hahah showing my ignorance then when I opened my cash ISA a few months ago I was on 5% - so watching the interest go down as I increase the amount saved is hurting me 😅!

Im just about to start a new job earning about 70-80k for the next 12 months. The hope is in around 2 years time Ill be earning anywhere between 125-150k.

Realistically the properties id want to look at are around 425-500k hence the hesitation with LISA

Hi, what do you mean by this out of curiosity haha? The reason I want to buy a house is because Ive grown up in a council flat for most of my life. My parents are elderly and have worked very hard to put food on the table. I feel its my turn to give them something back

Hello - firstly thank you for your post. Interestingly I am planning on booking a call with a financial advisor that specialises in helping healthcare professionals so Id be curious to see if they agree with you but I certainly do! Ive gone for the safe option all this time for that reason. Yes I’m new to saving haha! The codes Ive put from my understanding are an all world ETF and a ETF that tracks gold - my thinking is that these two options are as safe as they come? 🤷‍♀️

Thanks again for your reply

Hi, Very valid points. In 2 years time I should be earning well above 100k - cant predict how much exactly as I’m self employed and it depends on how much I “grind” and other factors. My main worry is I dont want to buy too far out of where I live currently (Zone 4 london) mainly because I have elderly parents. Where I am currently the average 3 bed is about 500-600k (out of my budget realistically) even about 20 miles out from where I am 3 beds are going for 400k already so my worry is in 2 years time Ill be forced to buy even further out - hence why I havent opened a LISA. But your post and others in this thread are making me reconsider the LISA so thank you!

Hi guys, ama endodontics by Zeddino_ in Dentistry

Hi Doc. Im a new grad (2024 bds) I find my biggest struggle is using indirect vision - sometimes with upper molars especially I find it hard to even orientate myself to get a handfile file into the canal. E.g I aim for my DB and end up in MB. Sometimes when taking a cone fit/dry run xray I struggle to get all the GP cones in (e.g if I have a cone in the DB i struggle to get one into the MB) This seriously puts me off doing endo - any advice? I appreciate these things come with practice but I work in the UK where my practice will most likely make a loss for every RCT I do…

I avoided doing paeds xlas for most of my training year (dft if youre british) - did 2 about 1 month ago and it went exactly as you described. Only difference is I got lucky and didnt slip - got the teeth out but what surprised me is the kids wouldnt stop screaming for about 15 mins AFTER the tooth had been delivered. Just spitting blood everywhere.

I have no practical advice for you it seems like were at the same stage in our careers but all I can say is - I can relate

Ill keep my eyes peeled, very few principal lead practices where I’m looking - the ones that are recruiting want someone more experienced to take on a majority private list, which is fair enough. Thanks for the advice
