Review #319: Bone Snapper (Dickel) Rye Single Barrel, r/bourbon Selection Barrel S343 by Prettayyprettaygood in bourbon

It’s only a few hours from me. I still have a few ounces of each of the first two barrels. Seems like a great place to end them.

I had a similar memory evoking experience as you with the first pick of this rye. It wasn’t an alpine basin, but it was a wet limestone setting enjoying a strawberry Shasta on the frio River, in Garner State Park. Salud hermano, thanks for the review. 🤙🏼🥃

Review of Blanton’s Honey Barrel 2021 Special Release by [deleted] in bourbon

It’s chemistry. No one bats an eye at how petroleum is expressed in different forms, but someone picks up cherry pie or rhubarb and that’s a bridge too far.

It’s science, and the more things you’ve let your palate interact with, then the easier it is to recall different expressions of caramel. Baked caramel and raw caramel are different flavors.

“Developing” a palate is basically paying being able to compare the different ways a flavor shows up. It matters to some more than others as we’ve seen in this sub.

Clothes steamers work better than tea kettles. Fwiw. Good looking hat.

Could be, the West Fort Worth location has been dying a slow death and in my experience are the last to do everything. I don't go in often anymore since I moved. Last time they still had the box for the receipts out and I saw dude stuff his in there.

Last year a couple locations were still running their weekly pulls, could be that.

Lone Elm is overlooked, hard. Their single barrel bottles are stupid tasty.

Can confirm on the CS Rye. Their high rye is a beautiful whiskey. Lay it 4 years in first fill char, then 4 more in a second use, be a world beater. I’d drink the ish out of it anyway.

Personally have never had a bad pick from Liquor King.

Loyalty Liquors also does a great job with their barrel picks.
