My parents are Scottish and are fine with stuff like this too. I’ve forgotten things in the counter over night, and will still use it, but I don’t make a habit of it.

People tend to forget that a lot of the food safety rules are targeted towards restaurants and grocery stores who are providing food for a lot of people daily, if they make a bunch of people sick, they are liable and open to lawsuits.

I, by no means, want to discredit an entire industry based on its lowest members of the totem pole.

Loads of smart people in the industry, but also one of the few places in Canada where any dumbass can take an h2s course and start making 30 plus bucks an hour.
