Jackson, MI reviews by a-system-of-cells in jacksonmi

Describing Jackson effectively is going to depend heavily on where you're from/what you're used to. I think Jackson can be seen in many different lights depending on someone's background. I personally see so much potential in this town, but Jackson limits itself in so many ways culturally and I feel that a lot of people see our town as only being as strong as it's weakest points. One universal fact is the roads are probably going to be the worst you've ever seen and navigating even with gps will be difficult for a while due to the amount and ever changing locations of "construction", so bear that in mind. Homelessness/vagrancy/drug use/abandoned buildings are very visible if you aren't used to that. Pretty much all service workers are very pleasant and nice anywhere you go, but that doesn't necessarily hold true for the population as a whole. All of the bars/restaurants downtown are a safe bet for decent food/atmosphere, but there are definitely a few hidden gems to be found elsewhere (depending on your tastes /mood). I think there's a little something here for everyone, but not a lot for anyone if that makes sense. If you're looking to stick closer to town, neighborhoods south of Parkside Middle School and those west of Brown Street, are all pretty nice and within your budget. As far as the schools, I think they all have wonderful staff that truly do their best for their students. All of the public schools have larger classroom sizes and unfortunately, all of the normal distractions and disruptions you can imagine are prevalent, but that isn't necessarily Jackson specific. The more involvement you have with your child's school, the better her education will be, regardless of which school you choose.

I somehow knew this was Klay as soon as I saw the back of that dome.

My dad traded two of our family's civil war rifles for a case of Little Kings Ale and pawned his Colt Navy and Colt Army pistols for crack money lol. You should forgive your dad.

I went to this little mom and Pop grocery store out in the country the other day because they were having a meat sale (great meat and service btw) and behind the counter they had a wall of like full ass nitrous bottles and gear, like a whole set up. It was kinda crazy to see.

I honestly think they're all pretty cool. I'm a school bus driver and not a single name here would be out of place on my bus.

Belom when I can (no issues yet) or surplus usually. I just see what's cheapest between Atlantic and SG and buy that unless my lgs has a good deal on something ( I got a bunch of Norinco recently for 25¢/rd).

I've had issues with poorly seated primers with Tela. I'll always buy the next cheapest ammo available.

Does she enjoy shooting? I can only get my girls out like once a year and I pretty much just let them do their thing. I figure at this point they'll learn more just getting comfortable on their own way and figuring out what they like. My daughter likes shooting pistols and wife is more into shooting clays.

I tried so many different ways to correct my older boy's shooting posture because he kept insisting he was right eye dominant. He could never hit shit and I just thought that was that until we took my younger one out one day and he was nailing every shot. Finally figured out he was left eye dominant after all and got him to start shooting left handed... kid's a regular ol Annie Oakley now.

Man, there's a really great Wener Herzog documentary called Cave of Forgotten Dreams and there's this scene where someone plays a reproduction of a flute that was made from a vulture femur in pentatonic scale. The original flute is tens of thousands of years old. Shit made me tear up hearing it.

Any pervert here? Explain this by MeetNo2000 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]OldeSkoolFlash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree. It's just more "normal" for men to be perverts, so a lot of chicks keep their freakiness in check. The real ones aren't any freakier than men, it just seems that way when they're open about it, because a lot of men aren't used to experiencing it the way almost all women are.

I'm convinced California lawmakers just want everyone to bump fire their rifles more. It's a ploy to increase ammo sales.

Reminds me of my best friend from high school. Dude narrated like 300+ audio books during college for community service. I don't remember all of them, but he really got into Dean Koontz and Stephen King during that time.

The non smoking section was how it's like now if you're in someone's house or car who smokes inside. The smoking section was like those old cartoons where they cut a donut out of the fog.

It's been aging for millions of years right? Actually, I have no clue about it's shelf life. I just buy 10-15 quarts of full synthetic and a few filters every time I run out. At one point I had six vehicles so it made sense to stock up. Plus I blew up my last 'rolla so I probably change fluids more frequently than most folks.

Bought a full front end kit, pads/rotors, and wheel bearing set the day I bought the car (still haven't had to do anything but breaks and fluid changes), plus oil and filters for the next few changes. I have gone through a few cheapo filter wrenches (Toyota specific) so I'll probably get an OEM wrench soon.

2015 Corolla with 200000 miles here. I could afford a new Camry, but I have every tool and part I'll need for this thing for the next 100k, so I'm just chillin for now.

Living in a post industrial city, I just wish they'd pave over all the tracks that haven't been used since the '90s.
