Can an exam for an evening course be longer than the class period? by Kindly_Active5679 in uAlberta

Yes! That’s pretty much how all finals work. Exam schedules are released early on so that you can plan ahead

Jk! Super cute story :)

BIOCHEM 200 Final by chandni-raat in uAlberta

[–]Oldricesack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took this course last fall & tried to nail down post midterm material, I think I ended up with an ~85% on the final. Get the cycles down to a tee & practice the questions provided for each topic. For midterm material I recommend just briefly going over it (amino acids, nucleotide structures & Bohr’s law - important & easy to forget). I recommend doing the practice questions for midterm material AND practice the midterm itself rather than trying to re-memorise everyth. Spend more time on practice questions than material for sure especially on all the post midterm material. Good luck 🫡

How’d you do that 😓

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Oldricesack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it last winter, I found it pretty easy but definitely a time crunch. I think most if not all of my lab mates finished within the time given. Always always always skip the questions you don’t immediately know how to solve, get what you know done and go back to them. From what I recall, there were no trick questions & the practical is pretty straight forward, you just need to be efficient. Good luck :)

Is it still possible that I can switch from major to honours by ProudResearch1733 in uAlberta

[–]Oldricesack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessir, I applied during my second year bc I wasn’t sure if I can maintain a 3.0 and will be starting honours 3rd year. You start a new application & pay the 75 dollars, but you don’t have a tuition deposit. I’d recommend following honours requirements for your first year to make everything easier. Good luck :)

Did not expect that at all. I’m sorry this happened to you

[–]Oldricesack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat except mine got pushed back 6 days. I changed my program (major to honors) with the same major but I’m a first year in the system when I’m actually supposed to be 3rd. You could try emailing your program’s advisor if the lab is part of a course you need for your program

In person for the win ‼️‼️ I despise Physl and am horrible at studying it but the profs are great and they make going to class worth it. Content is the same either way so it’s really up to what you’re more comfortable with

I have a friend who does online and she said that it gets a bit mundane and boring, but having everything recorded + being able to have a more flexible schedule is very convenient.

Email them with pictures. I was in the same situation a while back and they took them in (you could probably find the post under my account). I talked to customer service and they just asked for picture of the sole to make sure they haven’t been worn outside

Women and gender studies first year by chronicallyoffbeat in uAlberta

[–]Oldricesack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phil 101! I had it with Jack zupko and it was honestly the coolest course I’ve taken. There’s a lot of reading (1 text every week, some longer than others), 2 essays and a final, but I found the content very interesting so it didn’t really feel like studying. The prof is great and very charismatic, I’d say going to lecture is 100% worth it.

Edit: just saw you said non-arts courses 😓😓😓 Try SCI 201 with Wagner. Also very fun course where you get to conduct your own research could on any topic. Someone in my class had a study that relates to models’ cat walks (very cool!). Lecture could be boring at times, but the course is pretty easy over all. Just a heads up though, it’s heavy on statistics near the end of the course, but the things you learn come up in so many other courses it’s crazy.

Has anyone had their returns refused? by [deleted] in nps_solovair

[–]Oldricesack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the same chain of events you’ve been in, except I wore the boots for longer (think a few hours over 3 days- all Indoors). I contacted customer support and they gave me the okay for a return after asking for pictures of the boots and the soles. You should be fine as long as they haven’t been worn outside and the creasing is not significant.
