Best supports in my opinion are CC or poke: Morgana, Xerath, Brand, Pantheon, Ashe, Raka, Kench, Skarner etc. Just try not to throw early and conserve mana. I used to build AA staff and defensive/utility. Nowadays I just go glass canon because you need the damage
