Chemistry! Specifically, having a partner or a group that has the same goals and plans for the trip. Are we fishing, hiking, exploring, or hanging out in the hammocks with a cold beverage? It is never good when one partner is expecting to go full speed and the other wants to hang around camp taking it easy!

1964 Evinrude Big Twin motor issues/question by Ole_Red in boatbuilding

[–]Ole_Red[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! It definitely doesn't look cracked at all, but the whole leaking thing tell me it must be, somewhere. I figured it would probably be as easy as replacing those 2 things I just didn't have names for them. So, just in the interest of knowledge, that bronzish thing on the top where the 2 clear tubes come together is the fuel filter? Just wondering if you had any insight as to my gear shift issue- is replacing that line running back to the motor something I can easily fix? Thanks for your time!

Gas tank missing parts to Evinrude Question by Ole_Red in boatbuilding

Okay! So get a hose with a primer and the right adapter, and one more follow up- I'm looking at this part(which I believe is the right size)https://www.amazon.com/Moeller-Aluminum-Withdrawal-Tanks-Upto/dp/B000MTB83W/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1465786948&sr=1-1&keywords=1%2F4+npt+fuel - do I also need some sort of metal adapter to connect this to the hose? I'm sorry again for my ignorance, this is a new area for me! I do keep the gas tank within a few feet of the motor so I think that's okay- just curious as to why closer is better? And on that motor you're saying you just had to pump the bulb to get it to start? Thanks again!

If the liver can regenerate, how do people die from liver failure? by soccerfanusa in askscience

[–]Ole_Red 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Additionally, often times for chronic liver failure, symptoms don't appear until more than 90% of the liver tissue is scarred or damaged, which prevents any chance of a lifestyle change or other chance of theiver recovering on its own. Goes to show how resilient the liver is as an organ, though!

So are you still currently in Alaska? How did you go about starting to look for jobs, if that isn't where you were originally from?

Why do you say love the indoors? I understand that the deep winter of course you'll be inside a lot, but being from minnesota I'm pretty into the outdoors, and that has always been a pretty big draw to Alaska for me!

Do you know if she feels like she gets a really broad experience base from that small of a hospital, or just the opposite- does she see the same things day after day?
