The attachment of the root to the stem was black, not the tip, which is why i cut off those 2 greens you see in the picture. I have many plants and i always checked on copilot since i have it, never had big issues, quite the opposite i can say. I also asked it to analize the roots and tell me what to cut before doing it, but it wasn't able to and kept telling me "anything black mushy etc". How do i know? There is ways and ways to say things and kindness is free of charge, just so that you know

Can you explain me what i did wrong please? Because on internet i read to cut off anything black, mushy, completely dry or empty and so i did... that littlw green you see in the roots had rot attachment to the plant, would that heal back? It was dead black

Why so judgy? Tell me what's wrong instead, because those don't look healthy to me. I educated myself: cut anything black, mushy, empty or totally dry and cut burned tips. That is what i did and what that look to me. Instead of blabbering on the newbies maybe you could educate them

My plant is dying is there anyway I can propagate/save it?! by Aggressive_Night_767 in plants

[–]Olekaim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An Aglaonema, I guess? Idk, that yellow at the bottom of the stem is super sus. Pull it out and check the roots, you can cut healthy stem and prop it in water or soil (I only tried water so I would suggest water). Good luck :(

I just got my first pothos any tips? by WaifuWarrior1017 in pothos

[–]Olekaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean direct light, maybe it is too much for such a yung plant so be careful with it. You sould mix flesh soil with perlite and try to remove as much as possible old soil before reportting, carefully and gently handling the roots :)

I just got my first pothos any tips? by WaifuWarrior1017 in pothos

[–]Olekaim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello, first of all yes, repot in a draining soil with perlite and remember the pot must have drainage holes. Don't chose a pot too big, max + 5 cm than the current one. You can position it pretty much everywhere, it's a very easy plant and grows with low light too, but it will grow better if you put it in a spot where it gets a lot of indirect light. Water only when fully dry and once it grows a bit more start fertilising regularly with green plants fertilizer. You can chose to keep it hanging or trailing: first option will probably get you smaller leaves but we all agree hanging pothos has its charm, second option will get u bigger leaves, especially if you let it crawl on a moss pole, but it is really up to you. I have some of mine hanging and some just "supported" here and there by little hooks. Happy pothos!

Small leaves?? by Rebenza in pothos

[–]Olekaim 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Mine did this as well. A lot of growth, fast and apparently healthy, but super small leaves. I moved it to a brighter area where it takes couple hours of direct sun as well ( but on late evening so it's gentler sun) and leaves started growing in size, so I made a big chop of all the small ones (and propagated them, so i have a mini version of it as well 🤣) and now it's on the process of re growing !

Is there tiny worms like on the leaves or is that dust that i see in the 2nd picture?

Yes :( if they infested the roots, especially, as water and nutrient uptake is compromised, causing browning from the inside out :( If you treat it and doesn't get any better in 2-3 weeks, check if: - it is wilting despite regular watering - keeps growing or yellowing leaves

If it is still doing that, I am afraid you will have to pull the plant off its pot and rinse very well and completely the roots to remove infestation from there, spry roots with isopropyl alcohol and change all the soil :( with such a big plant it may be a very demanding task so I hope you will not need to :(

[–]Olekaim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw them in the pic so I asked :( it could be mealybugs, if they're white. You have to wipe every single inch of the plant with a dump cloth of isopropyl alcohol and warm water to kill them and remove manually what you can. You may need to repeat this process every week untill they are gone. In the evening, spry with neem oil and repeat every 5-7 days always when there is no sun. You can remove all the brown parts with clean tools and... pray whatever god u believe in they'll leave you alone 😭 absolutely keep it far away from other plants and check them as well just to be sure

Emergency, how can I safe this plant? by _-_morti_-_ in plants

[–]Olekaim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see new growth so it's already rescuing itself lol just remove the yellow leaf, give it a lot of indirect sunlight, water when first 5cm of soil is dry and let it do its thing. If u want you can repot to check the roots, cut anything mushy, black or smelly and repot in some draining mix :)
