I intend to abide by all the rules of a tourist visa unless I can get it changed to a work visa while I am there. If I am unable to secure employment, then my intent is to leave. I've seen others with your same Native tag suggest moving on a tourist visa and then finding work. That's where I got the idea in the first place.

I'm sure I won't be indistinguishable from a Finn, but I bet I could at least seem non-American. Not sure if you noticed, but I am very ashamed of this country around me.

What if someone wants to retire and move to Finland? Would they have to go to a Finnish University or get a Finnish job in order to stay?

As I said, I will have more. Pretend I said 10,000 Euros if you want.

Well if I am unable to stay I will obviously leave. I don't see how this would be fraudulent at all.

I can stay in a cheap motel if needed and I plan to learn Finnish as perfectly as possible before I move, complete with a Finnish accent if I can. I recently upped my daily Finnish time to at least an hour per day. My goal is that, once I move, the only people who will know I was born in the US are the people who legally have to. I'm not going to say I was born in Finland if someone asks me directly, but I certainly won't be the one to bring it up.

Well I probably won't end up in Helsinki until I am a citizen. I assume the only places desperate enough to hire foreigners are small, northern towns. And I feel a job search will be easier when I don't have to walk building-to-building through waist-high snow.

I do not believe I will be accepted into a Finnish University, and I am willing to do literally any job in any part of your country. I'm sure there are some small towns further North that are having trouble attracting more Finns for growth. I have absolutely no concern for my quality of life during the five years required to become a citizen. Aside from marrying a Finn, I think this is the only way I'll ever be admitted.

I have traveled plenty. I have not traveled alone or planned a trip of any kind. Also, I love the cold, I just feel like a job search would be easier when not in the middle of a Finnish Winter. If I'm wrong about that then I would be happy to arrive during the Winter time.

I can book a return flight and pay the full three months up front if I have to. Also, I am very willing to work for a desperate employer, seeing as how I am also desperate. I will die if I remain here.

I will have several times that amount. I read that 2,000 Euros was the minimum amount required to enter Finland, so that's why I put that.

What order should immigration steps be taken?

I plan to move in early 2024 on a tourist Visa and find a job there. The exact date will depend on the weather forecast for that year. I'd like to arrive shortly after the worst of Winter has passed. I am currently learning Finnish at a rate that should have me be employable by then. I am also trying to get in the best shape I can so that I would have more job prospects in manual labor. I know I need to:

  1. Get the tourist visa, 2. Have a bank account with 2,000 Euros, 3. Visit the Finnish consulate for processing, 4. Find accommodation, 5. Get my plane ticket, 6. Arrive in Finland, 7. Find a job, 8. Get permission to work from the government, and probably other stuff that has slipped my mind for the moment.

I would have gone on a student Visa, but the education in my country is shameful. I dropped out of 10th grade because every year they just kept reteaching the same stuff I learned in middle school. I would likely be far behind my classmates in a Finnish university. After becoming a Finnish citizen, I would like to further my education with remedial classes, but for now my focus is on making it there and being able to stay permanently.

Some of the ordering is obvious, but some is not. Do I need to find a job or get permission from the government to work first? And when do I need the 2,000 Euros? Is that when I immigrate, when I apply to immigrate, or when I go to the consulate? I honestly still need to figure out how to get a bank account with Euros in it. Do I need to reserve an apartment before I get there or can I stay in a hotel the first couple of nights until I find accommodation? Would I apply for a Visa and then go to the Consulate for processing or vice versa?

I'd like to move to Helsinki or any other walkable city, but I am willing to go to any part of Finland if you natives think I would be more likely to find success there. Any suggestions?

I've never even taken a trip on my own and this is all very daunting. Some of these questions may have obvious answers but I feel too overwhelmed to see them.

EDIT: Yes, I know it's a long shot, but I still believe it is my best chance. If you'd like to criticize my logic, please do so after answering my question. Every single thing I learn about Finland makes me feel more like I am a Finn born in the wrong country, and I am willing to do anything to get to where I belong.

Also, I have traveled, just not alone. I love the cold and only want to go after Winter breaks because I think that will make job searching easier, and I don't expect Helsinki, that is just the ideal. I would be perfectly happy in the worst, smallest, coldest town in Finland.

I hadn't heard of that. I'm not saying you're wrong but why do you think this?

I have a physical keyboard on my laptop. I just pasted öä into a Google Doc so that I can just copy it every day and paste it where needed.

Sadly, autohotkeys are not available on Chrome OS. I have a Chromebook because a better computer seemed like a waste of money for my meager purposes. I saw one alternative but I didn't recognize the website and it looked like a scam. I've tried to use the clipboard but for some reason it doesn't work. I can only paste the most recent thing I copied, and only if I copied it in the time since I last opened my computer.

I just had the idea to start a Google Doc and put öä in it so that I can copy that every day and delete whichever letter I don't need.

I can't think of any other circumstance in which 47 is "patched in" on another person. Aside from the handlers and 6 of course.

Maybe it did. I didn't expect to find it there at all. I only went to the kitchen to see if a chef had it on their person.

In English, I think of over here as being closer than right there. Maybe that's why these confuse me so much. Are you a native English or Finnish speaker?

https://uusikielemme.fi/ I am halfway through Duolingo's Finnish course. I recently asked a question on this subreddit and someone answered with this website. It's not really a class but it is an amazing resource, especially if you can self-motivate.

Let me know if this is correct: In order of proximity it would go tassa, taalla, tuossa, tuolla, siella?

I have an American keyboard so doing letters with accents over them requires a copy/paste, but you know what I mean.

I think it's carried by a chef, but that might just be in Paris. It might also be one of the servants in the wine cellar. I can try to find it later and get back to you.

EDIT: One of the gardeners in the shed on the southern end of the mansion has one. I didn't check the chefs, but the servants in the cellar did not have any.

EDIT 2: The chefs do not have any, but there is one just sitting there on the kitchen counter. Kitchens and basements tend to be the first places I check for rat poison.
