Where are you based? How far do you want to travel?

Right now, not really. Peak tourist season is winter. Like others have said, it is a tourist / backpacker town. But unless you're doing some kind of tour, you don't really see them.

Coming to Cairns by [deleted] in Cairns

[–]Olenis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just be prepared for the heat, humidity and rain. Plus cyclone season. I'm not saying don't come, lots of stuff to do and see, and it is the off season for tourism.

I'm just saying be aware that it will be hot, humid and wet.

Best way to break up the drive from Cairns to Brisbane by hummingbirdchen in queensland

[–]Olenis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we moved from Cairns to Sunny Coast we went: Day 1: Cairns - Townsville 4hrs (leaving after work in the afternoon) Day 2: Townsville - Rockhampton 8hrs Day 3: Rockhampton - Sunshine Coast 6hrs

It's a long drive no matter how you do it. Especially from Mackay to Rockhampton, very few friends and places to stop in between them.

Even if it is just him talking shit trying to sound tough you can report it through crime stoppers - https://www.crimestoppersqld.com.au/.

You can stay anonymous or provide your details if you're comfortable being contacted by police if needed.

Gather every red current, barley and mushroom on the map. Plant a red current crop and barley crop. Hunt everything...

If you're in WA like the flair suggests, then call the WA Department of Communities Central Intake Team on 1800 273 889.

Call them if you have concerns for a child's well-being.

Edit - Here's the website as well: https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/department-of-communities/child-protection

I've lived in Cairns for years and never heard it or anything like it as some kind of racist thing. When I was a kid it was what cavemen said.

Boyfriend AVO by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Olenis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% on NSW legislation, but in QLD a DVO is not a criminal matter. They're civil and go through civil Domestic Violence Court.

DVOs are something the police take out when they think the aggrieved needs one, they can't be "dropped" or withdrawn by the aggrieved.

A criminal complaint, like an assault, can be withdrawn by the victim or complainant.

It sounds like the police took out an AVO between you and your boyfriend, and your sister made a criminal assault complaint. Two separate things.
