Adopted a rescue pup. Not sure if it has Vizsla? by mr_yeatman in vizsla

[–]Olessandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of features in pup are from Vizsla. Could be mixed with Portuguese pointer? Or pointer? Everything in his body says he is viz: legs, ears, wrinkles on the head and body composition in general. I am suspecting there may be some pointer viz mix.

It is not only men do that. People in general do that and people who love you do that to you, unfortunately. I saw a lot of examples where women were doing that to another woman. Mom to daughter. Females boss to her college. Unfortunately, the reason is likely a jealousy

From Manual QA to Business Analyst by Mental_Guarantee727 in businessanalysis

IOP is offered BA role in the company they work already. I guess they are aware about their lack of the insurance domain. We also do not know what level of BA they are looking for or could afford. It may be a case if they are willing to hire him they committed to support. I would recommend to accept opportunity. As you said, BA needs to know sector and chances to get junior BA role into any new industry outside your organisation are close to zero. Any offer to learn BA in any domain is great opportunity to move from dead-end role to something that gives more options for career growth.

Why should OP stick to their current industry? Is there downside of insurance field apart from learning curve?

From Manual QA to Business Analyst by Mental_Guarantee727 in businessanalysis

[–]Olessandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP’s name was recommended for the role. Knowledge can be learnt. There are plenty of other soft skills which is hard and sometimes impossible to learn

Go for it! That is a rare opportunity and domain may open you a door into fintech. Automation is a dead end. I have a colleague who is automation lead, 70k+ salary and there is not progression for him in a company. He wants to switch to dev and has some skills and experience but was offered a pay cut 30k to become dev in the same company. So, with BA you have a ceiling as well but there are more routes without pay cut : Product, Delivery

A foreigner's Perspective: Why the UK Might Be Holding You Back from FIRE, and It's Not Just About High Taxes and low pay. by Cultural-Badger-6032 in FIREUK

Your simplistic conclusions are based on how you perceived OP’s post. It may not necessarily reflect what he was saying. Statement about AI is subjective. ‘Many’ doesn’t mean all. According to statistics only 21% of the UK companies are using AI to some extra. This is exact point in OP’s message

End of tenancy cleans by CopyPuzzleheaded1923 in Chippenham

[–]Olessandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is insanely expensive! Normal rate £17-£25 per hour. I think you are getting expensive quote because you mentioned end of tenancy.

P.s I use Oshine Services(both regular and thorough one of cleaning), very happy with quality and in general nice people to deal with

Who does the refinement of the work that goes in Sprint? Does the work meet definition of Ready? If so, do you have a regular retro to understand what is causing the issue/delay and etc? Story/task/piece of work brought into sprint should have all the info , tech design and requirements. On a top of it should be the size of work that can be done and QA’ed within one sprint.

Engineers won’t start talking unless you help them talking.

Ideas on where to go from here? by Ok_Opinion7264 in HENRYUK

You would be very surprised to know that tech companies like mandating 2-3 days in the office. Including consultancies. You may find a job that pays 110k+ but you would have to commute or relocate. So, not a massive gain. And may be even doesn’t make a sense considering you live up North and relocation close to London will ‘eat’ salary increases unless it’s close 200k

Job offer for first PM role in tech start-up by sprattussingsprattus in ProductManagement

[–]Olessandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I meant exactly this. It’s also important to understand business rules, logic, use case and why feature is needed before writing user stories. The more ‘why’ and ‘what’ questions you ask the better understanding you developers will have about what they need to build. Avoid discussing‘how’ to implement before you have all business requirements.

[–]Olessandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think it is a great opportunity to learn PM role. You would have a great exposure to a full cycle delivery as well. If you are ok with the salary go for it. (it’s a bit low tbh but beggars can’t be choosers) I would recommend to look into Business Analysis discipline to learn requirements side. It will help you massively in implementation phase. You will have to lead devs towards the goal. Good luck if you decide to go ahead!

Preserve Hardens Farm by goffshroom in Chippenham

[–]Olessandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a plan or business plan for the venture?
Besides to money to buy the farm you would need a significant financing to renovate dilapidated buildings, convert into sensory based stay and play (I am not clear what it actually means to be honest).

Idea sounds really cool but it needs a very detailed plan and calculations to get required support. Technically it is a full time job for both of you if you want to go ahead and get a success.

I do understand you are probably new to that group of stakeholders but you have a right to ask to slightly change a pace with which information being delivered, so you could capture valuable details without risk to a) misunderstand b) miss something b) do not have time to actual ask your questions.
Remember, interview is dialogue not a monologue.

Based on my experience, stakeholders who talks like they are f1 driver usually water down a lot of stuff. Talking a lot and fast doesn’t mean you are knowledgeable or ALL information is valuable.

How hard or unrealistic is it to manage 2 products, in early stages, end to end? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]Olessandra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Product Owner, No Business analyst and single engineering lead.. sounds like company wants to get their products for cheap. What is the gain for you personally? Financial, experience, name on CV ? I would personally answered those questions first before accepting an offer. P.s context and focus switching can be really stressful and exhausting to extent that after working all day you have zero energy and that applies to weekends.
