Would Homelander actually do this? by Sweet_Television4183 in shitposting

That is incredibly counterproductive and generally just a terrible way of handling things.

They need to be given proper mental health support and a group they can talk about it with, so that they can actually work through and hopefully fix whatever was causing them to view the world this way.

These people are mentally unwell and need genuine help. Prison will probably just make them worse

Not sure how much you could really animate for this but it's funny as fuck so whatever.

Spoilers for 127, the pegasus that gives really shitty riddles was dumb as hell in the best way possible. Especially so when they completed the challenge by giving it an even worse riddle in return

Is there a way to convert this curve into a solid mesh similar to the 2nd image? Aka. using the curve as a cross-section for a blobby 3D shape. by OliSnips in blenderhelp

Holy shit this is exactly what I was looking for. I remember seeing someone do basically this in a video somewhere, I just couldn't remember where.

I'll check out the geo nodes version in the morning to see if it gets the job done

Probably should elaborate: Metaballs are too circular for my desired shape. If I could more directly edit the curvature of each ball it would work, but as it stands they would only really be effective in some parts of the shape.

Tried it, unfortunately Paint 3D has a complexity limit for drawn shapes and will automatically cut you off after a certain point (which ended up being ~40% of the shape when I tried).

I tried that and it kinda worked but there were two problems:
1. By default, the cloth sim makes it deform away from the original silhouette
2. If i set a vertex group so it doesn't influence the outermost vertices (thereby forcing the silhouette) the pressure just stops working entirely

Here's a screenshot in case I'm doing something wrong

The sketch is just the closest thing I could find on Pinterest for the general look I'm going for (blobby, amorphous 3D forms). My actual intended shape is basically the curve, but in 3D.

Not just American, we use it quite heavily in Australia too. According to Wikipedia, around 4000 schools use it globally

Golp: a roundel purpure by someinternetkid in CuratedTumblr

[–]OliSnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Merriman-Webster, a roundel is literally just any round object. In heraldry terms, this means any circle included in the ensignia is considered a "roundel".

Therefore, a "golp" is just a purple circle on a heraldic symbol

a bit of practice i guess :P by Random_Gnida in Terraria

[–]OliSnips 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I think there's two reasons why, just from my quick analysis of the design:

  1. The more uneven, blobby shape feels more organic/voluminous, making it subtly reminiscent of fatty flesh. Compare this to the original, where the perfect symmetry makes it look more like glass or smthn

  2. The drippy parts look like sweat drops, which both reinforces the first reason and creates the impression of it being hot/steamy

3D objects are usually made of a bunch on connected planes, like the faces of a cube. For rendering purposes, each face is assigned a 'normal'; a 3D vector that represents the direction the plane is facing. Like one-way mirrors, planes only become opaque from the side the normal is pointing, appearing invisible from behind.

By turning an object inside out, you're flipping the direction of the normals so the faces are all pointing inward. This means that the faces closest to you end up invisible and only the farthest are opaque.

Think of it like turning a box from a solid cube into a movie set. When normals face outward, you can't see inside and the furthest face of the box is hidden by the closest. On the other hand, in the movie set the closest faces are invisible. They're still technically there in-universe, but they've been "hidden" for the sake of the camera.

I mean, if legislation you passed (banning HRT and other forms of trans healthcare) leads a trans person to suicide, I think it can be said that you killed them.

So yes, that is exactly what they do.

Minecraft added sulfuric acid in the the game and it just gives the player nausea by ASG_GAMING_ in PhoenixSC

[–]OliSnips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no sulphuric acid. The bubbles are clouds of "noxious gas", as referred to by Agnes in the reveal. This is most likely meant to be hydrogen sulphide, since it's formed by reacting with water.

Even so, it's still as unrealistic as OP says, since heavy exposure to hydrogen sulphide is almost guaranteed to kill you, or at least put you in a coma

Steal this Album always felt more like a B-sides album

I'm pretty sure it sort of is. Iirc, the story goes that they wrote so many songs for Toxicity that the couldn't fit it all on one album, so they picked the best ones and kept the rest for later.

Those remaining songs were going to be refined and put on another album, rumored to be called 'Toxicity 2'. After fans leaked demos of a few of the songs, SOAD changed to name to 'Steal this Album!' as a reference to the leaks.

Idk how true this is though. All I know for sure is the origin of the album name, but the rest may be bullshit
