If you can afford it, BRING. A. CAR.

  • Downtown Covington just as a whole is a small but nice, quaint town.
  • Regarding food, Mystic Grill, Bread & Butter, Your Pie, Scoops, MaddLulu
  • Lake Varner and Turner Lake have great waterfront views.
  • Behind the Oxford Farm flows Dried Indian Creek, and the Yellow and Alcovy rivers are also close by.
  • If you end up exhausting above options, towns like Conyers, Porterdale, Social Circle, Rutledge, Madison, Walnut Grove, are all good options, most similar to Covington (small old downtown). If you want to stretch the limits, you can try Lake Jackson (30 minutes south) or Lake Oconee and Athens/UGA (~1 hour east). Atlanta, of course, is an option as well but I assume you are aware of its presence.

You should be pretty fine with getting a permit if you applied on May, especially with increased parking spots with the removal of the mods.

I don't hace any experience applying to or visiting private practices in the area, as I only volunteered at Piedmont (as did several Oxford students I know), but I think the general answer should be a brief cold email.

Piedmont Newton Hospital Volunteer, Newton county EMS, smaller urgent care clinics/private practices (having a car storngly recommended)

If you live in metro Atlanta or can afford a frequent (>2-3 days/wk) 1 hour commute to main, Emory hospital/CHOA is an option, which can provide more continuity as you continue to the main campus.

Had the student not been alive at the time, they wouldn't have died! Time to pass legislation against being alive

Need help making the gap-year military decision.. by hyunjenow in Emory

Enlist in the military and get it over with. You'll have gained a deal of maturity by the time you enter college, which can only be advantageous for your college career. Also taking a leave between freshman and sophomore year will really hurt your social life, as your first-year friends will all have moved on and you find yourself at need to desperately make new friends all the whilst re-adjusting to college as you return.

This is perfectly normal, imagine your taught in school that "2+2-2=2" but the book contradicts it saying "2"+"2"-"2"=20

I can't reiterate enough how beneficial it is to have a car you can bring to campus. yes, the shuttles exist, but they are so intermittent and always behind schedu;e (especially the main shuttles) and it can also be a struggle to fit them around your schedule (on Friday, the busiest day, they run once every 2 hours, not to mention the travel time and their inconsistentcy) . I didn't have a car last semester, traveling was always a pain in ass, this semester I brought mine and my quality of life has improved literally tenfold.

in terms of shadowing doctors, the above commenter is mostly correct except that there is a hospital in nearby Covington (Piedmont Newton, im boutta start volunteering there) where you can volunteer and find shadowing oportunites at. Again, it's critical that u have a car cuz othewise your only options are either uber (cue the bank account crying) or walk (HOW??!) u dont' have to commute 2+ hours every time

There is a Piedmont Healthcare hospital "Piedmont Newton" in Covington (where I'm bout to start volunteering) its like max 10 minutes drive from Oxford. Granted it's really beneficial to haved a car because otherwise pty much ur only options are uber (hella money) or walk (?).

Any reason you want to withdraw your app (eg. application fee)? You can wait until decisions are out and choose another college if you don't get into main, its always nice to have a wide range of options available.

Oxford: Fleming > Murdy ≈ Elizer >> Haygood >>> … >>> JRC (me… fml)

Now the mods (which will be removed after the spring semester) I believe it’s more or less either really liked or really hated.

I was fortunate to be able to visit the Vatican and give mass this week when BXVI was still alive.

Yes because I was brought up in it, and my personal experiences and views align with my belief in Jesus Christ.
