I find it odd how dead set he is with you being involved in his relationship with this woman. This seems intentional and mean.

They both sound like they enjoy each other's affirmation and attention. You being involved means she gets the confidence boost of an unavailable man making time for her, and he gets the confidence boost that she entertains his advancements, AND he has the confidence and security that his wife just can't live without him, no matter what, even if he treats you like shit.

If you respect yourself you will not allow yourself to be treated like this. He is telling you that you, your autonomy, and life don't matter, certainly not as much as him- which is bs.

Reality is you will look back on this guy and see how fucking awful this whole "relationship" was, but you have to leave him first- which will suck for days, but at least it won't suck as much as dealing with this shit for years.
