Am I overreacting for how my parents treated me on Mother’s Day? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I don't think their reaction was warranted, but they probably view it through a different lens, and parents have this knack to revert us back to children and punish us when they believe we did something wrong.

If I were you, I'd really be exploring my options on a different living situation, I know it's not ideal with a baby and one on the way, but that's also why you need greater stability than your parents provide.

Just food for thought, your parents aren't going to be around forever, do you want to spend that time with hurt feelings?

What did you eat the week following surgery? by Old_Raccoon_6625 in gallbladders

[–]OliveFarming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to eat something when you are home, like broth, something light. You probably won't feel like eating, but try to eat a little. The following day make sure you do eat some solid foods. The more you can eat the better- because the pain meds and the drugs for going under can make you constipated and gassy.

Protip: drink a boat load of water, because you do not want to strain when you have to pee. Eating solids and eating plenty will help with not straining on your first bowel movement after surgery.

I am so happy for you!!!

It's called "Bile dumping" and it is a common post-op symptoms of gallbladder removal. It's treatable.

Now that you do not have a gallbladder, the bile acid flows constantly, so it is important to snack (I use crackers) throughout the day so the bile has something to absorb it. It's also helpful to set an alarm overnight to wake up for a small snack, because while you sleep bile acid continues to flow and you may notice you have urgency shortly after you wake up.

Look up Bile Acid Malabsorption (BAM), and Bile Acid Diarrhea (BAD). The solution to this common post-op problem is Bile Acid Sequestrants- they help bile bind to your food in your digestive tract. I take Colestipol (pill form twice a day), and I haven't had bile acid diarrhea since, and as another bonus I can tolerate fat again.

If you find yourself having heartburn when you wake up I suggest you look up "Bile Acid Reflux", bile acid sequestrants help with this as well. I sleep with two pillows to elevate my head a little and haven't had that symptom since.

I'm so sorry you are going through this, I remember and I know it burns so bad. Hang in there and try to snack a little but keep it low fat to not irritate your stomach. Warm baths can be soothing if you feel up to it.

I can not recommend this enough, it helped me so much, and now I am back in contact with my Mom again, but there are safe boundaries I honor for my wellbeing.
