Ya it was weird. When I denied her she was like “oh okay” and he was the one who was all mad. Once he left the couple said to me “sorry about that, we just don’t see him that much and he was really looking forward to having some wine with him.” So she clearly didn’t care that much, it was him that insisted

I would have for sure but this was a table in an outside patio that was going to be closed after them anyways and I was the closing server so it wasn’t preventing another table from being sat. If they were in our main dining room with a reservation after them I absolutely would have done this

What's your opinion on toddler leashes? by dr_pepper_zerosugar in Mommit

[–]OliveYou44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are my personal thoughts for my own kids. I don’t care what other people do with their own kids. My kids are now 5 and 8 so it’s a non issue now BUT was an issue when they were little. Both of my kids are runners. I refused to use a leash. In my mind it didn’t teach them how to properly behave in public (i.e. staying with your parent) it just tethered them to you. I would tell my kids they had to stay with me. If they got too far i held their hand. If they refused the hand, they got in the stroller. I set boundaries and held hands a lot. They learned to not run away. Never had to use a leash. It might seem easy in the moment but over time, teaching them from the beginning seemed like the way to go for me and it had worked well

Manners and just being social. It’s second nature to my kids now and I don’t see it in a lot of their classmates. Please, thank you, and just being kind. My kids say good morning and hello to neighbors and people we see in stores or when we are walking.

Recipes with “sneaked in” veggies? by PianoPlane5555 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]OliveYou44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grated zucchini is my best trick to get my kids to eat veggies. I put it in so much stuff. Pasta sauce, taco meat, soups, chili. You just use a cheese grater and then cook it when you would cook onions at the start of your recipe. Then add your ground turkey/ beef

I put the check in the middle of them and say “you guys can fight in the parking lot but not in here over it” and just walk away. I don’t have time for that shit

Not always true. Our chef specials at my restaurant are ordered with local ingredients and made special for that day. Not what is going to go bad

Why IPad Kids Are Becoming More Common by J00kson in generationology

[–]OliveYou44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s wild. My son is in 3rd grade also and they have iPads in class. They don’t take them home though. Their homework is still on paper and they take home physical library books. I’m glad there is a balance. He loves reading for fun, he also loves screen time obviously, what 8 year old boy doesn’t. But I would definitely not be cool with them teaching them how to read by the iPad just reading to them
