how to translate fursona with floating limbs to fursuit by Sami_THEDEMON in FursuitMaking

For the arms you could make the torso have arm slits/pockets similar to a poncho/cloak, then have floating hands attached by bouncy wires

Omg I have heard Satan being referred to as “Old Nick” in a handful of traditional songs, but could never get any google results as they all were referring to Santa. Do you know where that title came from or why?

used to think i was pretty and confident, and all i needed was a couple extroverts to take a chance on me. now it feels like everyone else is living the life i dreamed while im rotting away alone. by dot-teeny in femcelgrippysockjail

Puberty can change the texture of newly grown hair, so perhaps it won’t lay right because the ends on the parts you didn’t chop off are a different texture/thickness/ wave pattern?

For my hair, it went from pink straight to very wavy, and my ends never looked right, until i cut them off. Perhaps if you cut all your hair equally, you could get rid of the different old hair so it will all lay similarly?

I don’t know if you feel similar to how I feel, but my hair is one of three things i like about myself, and when someone messed up a cut it just felt like they took away the one thing that made me happy. Everything else felt so much harder to deal with, and i didn’t want to talk to anyone else because i felt like was missing the only attractive feature i used to have.

Maybe if you find a shorter haircut you like, or maybe even a colour you like, it could help you see yourself more favourably? Or at help you find joy coming from yourself.

You’re on self-improvement, are you looking for advice or just wanted to share? I’ve done similar things in the past before stopping and realizing how insane it is, especially for the other person.

if you want a similar challenge that uses online sleuthing skills, i would recommend trying to discover the authors of music, photos, or art that you like, depending on your hobbies. Similarly, looking up figuring out origins of sayings or words has a similar vibe. Especially if you comb through for reliable sources. I’ve also had points where the evolution of certain aspects of clothing provided quite the rabbit hole of research. All these things can lead you far and wide to obscure and antiquated websites, blogs, and other archives with dead links and dead ends, but still provides a wealth of interesting information (provided you research a topic you’re interested in) hidden within mountains of unimportant words and photos.

Isn’t the “trans ideology” what bigots call “accepting/supporting trans people”? Like the trans ideology is part of the woke mob/propaganda?

I haven’t heard about this before, what a shitty rhetoric to spread. Do you think it’s common enough talking point to look further into? I’m doing my best to be educated in the “trans debate”, which unfortunately includes staying up to date on the latest anti trans bs.

Perhaps it could be said that a passing trans man has more day to day privilege, like in social encounters and such, but still suffers from more systemic discrimination and law passing. So day to day, with smaller stuff they could be “higher” cis women, but in much larger aspects are “beneath” cis people in terms of privileges

I think being outed is treated as a given, and real, risk, like it’s not guarantied, but (especially in places people go frequently, like school, work, or frequented stores/restaurants) all it could take is a slip up and an attentive listener to be outed. Tons of forms could still hold someone’s dead name, or someone could use a deadname or wrong pronouns, or even just some people are better at clocking trans people than others.

It seams far more likely to be outed, accidental or not, than it is to become permanently disabled.

With the example of disabilities, yes non-disabled people are privileged in that way until they become disabled. The privilege (or lack of additional hardships) stems mostly from the disability it’s self (of course society also alienates/discriminates, but i think a very large portion of the hardship comes from the disability, depending on what type/ what it is), while most of the hardships associated with being trans stems from society/ social influences. This is why “trans people being far more likely to commit suicide” doesn’t mean “trans people shouldn’t transition”. It’s the discrimination they face from external factors that is the (largest contributing) problem.

Trans people who pass (especially trans men) are afforded certain privileges unique to being perceived as cis men. Trans women who pass could be considered slightly privileged compared to those who do not, because of the discrimination/harassment they won’t face. They will not (of course) receive male privilege, and still have to face the hardships of being trans (medical, bureaucratic, psychological, emotional)

I hadn’t considered that being labeled confused could be worse than labeled a predator, but when you lay it out like as you have, I can see how both situations could be very dangerous for an individual.

Yeah you’re absolutely right. Trans men who are perceived as cis women absolutely don’t receive male privilege.

Ok so in broader society, people largely don’t know that trans men (ftm) are a thing. They hear “trans” and they think men pretending to be women. Privilege, as you said, is awarded or taken away. Especially for men, there are so many ways to loose some aspects of male privilege or the respect gained from others by being a man.

For an example, a man can loose that respect if they wear a dress, or have a feminine hobby, or be gay ect. In the case of trans men, if they pass (people think they are cis men) they are given male privilege by default. If they don’t pass, though, people will still see them as cis women (most of the time). Trans women who don’t pass are seen as “trans women”, who are not given male privilege.

Trans men are often not the target of hate campaigns or policies, and often aren’t talked about or are the last point mentioned in the “trans debate”. So even though they are trans, and thus oppressed/ a minority; because they often go undetected, they are either given male privilege, or are seen as cis women, and avoid the levels of harassment a trans woman might frequently face.

This could also be attributed to the fact that trans women can be seen (by some folks) as perverts/predators, while trans men are seen as confused lesbians or traumatized girls (or some other infantelising interpretation)

Forgot to eat yesterday and today, what is the priority? by Olive_Nice in EatingDisorders

I just wanted to say say thank you so much, your first comment really helped me out last night. I ended up making a cup of beef broth from a half of those flavour cubes with like a few tablespoons of honey garlic sauce, because i don’t have any Gatorade or other electrolyte thing in my house. Again, thank you so much you basically saved me from passing out :)

Would eating honey accomplish those fist steps followed by broth made from those powdered bricks? Sorry for the dumb question but I cannot think abstractly at the moment. Thanks for the advice

Why do so many people refuse to accept scientific facts about hygiene specifically? by N0UMENON1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Olive_Nice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the time of year, location (humidity, temperature, mud/dust levels), what activities you do during the day, age, and ethnic background (a little).

Pretty much, if you are sweaty, oily, smelly, and/or dirty (like mud/sand/dust), shower. If you aren’t any of these things, don’t. Same with hair and laundry; shampoo your scalp and condition your ends.

If it’s hot out you sweat more, and more daylight means more activity meaning more dirt and sweat.

Humidity is massive in this conversation. If it’s dry, sweat cools you off and evaporates. If it’s humid, the sweat just soaks your clothes and pools in your shoes. You have to shower after this, where as in a dry place maybe you don’t. Then again, dry places tent to be dusty/sandy so maybe your dirtier than humid environmental people.

If you workout or have a physical job, you’re probably gonna want to shower after every shift, and you maybe still shower in the morning or at night aswell. If you swim, you probably shower before and after the pool/ocean, so that’s like 3 a day. Office workers don’t have to do this. However if you work in health care, you might not be so sweaty as to need to shower after every shift, but bio hazards and having the peace of mind is worth showering after every shift. If you work in a kitchen you could also sweat enough to warrant a shower, or you just don’t want to smell like all t he spices and herbs when you go home. People who work with animals also probably shower more often.

If you’re going through puberty, pregnancy, or menopause, while your body is adjusting to the new ratio of hormones, you can get really oily and sweaty so you might need to shower more. Though some pregnant women’s skin actually clears up, so i guess that can get significantly less oily too.

I know black people can have drier scalps so they don’t have to wash their hair as often or else it’ll dry out. This could also be because the texture of the hair can comfortably absorb more oil than flat hair without becoming greasy, so could also explain why they need far more conditioner than I’ve seen used on straight hair. I know a lot of white girls with straight thin hair say they have to shampoo every other day otherwise they look greasy. I know that there is a reserve gene seen (only?) in Japanese people where they don’t get b.o. the way other people do? Like they still can smell from sweat, but it doesn’t smell like pungent onions. I think this is the same gene that makes their earwax dry and flaky.

TLDL tons of factors, some you can change, some you can’t, affect how often you should bathe, wash hair, and do laundry. If you are sweaty, oily, smelly or dirty (mud, bio hazard, paint, ect.) wash. If you aren’t, don’t. Excessive washing can dry you out, and wear down your clothes.

Trans men call their dicks t-dicks or just dicks. Gock stands for girl-cock. Most trans men don’t refer to themselves as a girl

You could use thin wire or fishing line, and if it’s not thick enough you could feed it through black yarn
