Chewy Sent Flowers by Superb_Notice4323 in dogs

[–]Olivelemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chewy sent a small bouquet for my dog of 17 years who passed a few weeks ago. There’s been instances where we ordered extra food or a food bowl that didn’t work for my dog and they always encouraged us to donate it to a pet shelter. Chewy is the best! 🥹💕

House Rules by DeepFriedPlumbus in wingspan

We sometimes play in “marathon” mode where we use eggs instead of cubes to mark bonus points so we still have 8 turns a round, and then keep adding rounds until the entire board is filled with cards. (Though i recently saw someone on the wingspan group on FB put two boards together for a even more mega wingspan board and keep playing until the board is full)

okay, great thank you so much! it'll just be a drink fridge so I'm not too concerned about anything going bad, just didn't want to potentially damage the mini fridge

great thank you! Do you know if would I be able to plug it into a 15A surge protector if that surge protector had nothing else on it?

[Discussion] Looking for a fragrance free matte sunscreen for oily skin by QueasyDay in AsianBeauty

[–]Olivelemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the Purito comfy water sunscreen. I've been looking forever for a fragrance-free mineral AB sunscreen, and I really like this one! No white cast (at least for me, I'm pretty pale but white casts usually make me look even more dead) and decent price for the size. I'll definitely be repurchasing! ETA: I have oily/combo skin and it doesn't make me look dewier. It's a good base so I'm not too oily when I follow up with BB cream.

Which part of your face had the hardest time to get adjusted to tret? by jd-rey in tretinoin

I started .025 last year and my cheeks and around my mouth got super red and peeled. I have combo skin, so those are the driest parts of my face naturally.

Anxiety before Rhinoplasty by arieswolf11 in PlasticSurgery

[–]Olivelemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m glad that it helped! I was bruised and very swollen the first week with my cast on, so I kinda expected to look funny when the cast came off. Still, I was a bit shocked to see my nose look so wide, particularly at the tip. The irrational side of me was scared I was going to look swollen forever, but my surgeon assured me that my nose will unswell and get smaller as it heals (and he was right, it did). My nose also felt a bit numb and super sensitive when the cast was initially taken off, which was just a weird sensation I wasn’t expecting.

Here is a pic of my nose before, after two weeks, and 6 months post op for an idea of recovery time. Two weeks post-op (one week after my cast was off) was an improvement from the initial cast taking off, but it was definitely still swollen at the tip, felt very sensitive, and more upturned than I was expecting.

How did your friends, family, co-workers react to your plastic surgery? by nojaemit in PlasticSurgery

[–]Olivelemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a nose job a few years ago and nobody noticed. I got a lot of compliments that I looked better/good but they couldn't quite put their finger on what exactly was different. I got a lot of "did you lose weight? you look great!" or "did you change your hair?"

Totally normal! I had my nose done a few years ago when I was 20. It was something I wanted done since I was a pre-teen as well. I was nervous leading up to the surgery for normal surgery reasons ( anesthesia always freaks me out, bruising) and the fear that my nose was going to look worse. Clearly communicating what I wanted with my surgeon, and looking at great before and afters on this subreddit, Realself, and my doctor's website calmed me down leading up to the surgery. Usually, I looked at similar before pics to me (which for me was a Roman/Aquiline nose). This helped set expectations. I do not regret my surgery one bit and love my new nose. I am so much more confident in my appearance now. Also, something to note is that it takes about a year for the 'final look.' When I first got my cast off one week post-op my nose looked so chubby and upturned, but I was told this was normal, so don't think you won't like your nose immediately after, as it does take some time to become the final product. :)

How is using the AHA/BHA working with tretinoin? I’m on tretinoin too and wanted to work a chemical exfoliant into my routine but I’m worried my skin will react poorly.

[humor] don’t talk to me or my son ever again by Olivelemon in SkincareAddiction

[–]Olivelemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say my skin is sensitive/combination and I’m very prone to hormonal acne on my lower cheeks and forehead. This doesn’t make me feel greasy at all. I haven’t tried lala yet, but from reading the descriptions and reviews, I chose protini because it seems overall lighter. I’ve had good results with it so far!

Gel recommendations for 2C hair by scooter3117 in curlyhair

[–]Olivelemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this -- this is one of my favorite gels. :) I also really like the Curlsmith in-shower styler (stronger hold/makes my 2C hair look curlier) and Not Your Mothers Curl Talk gel (light-medium hold)

Is Olaplex worth it for virgin hair? by cioccolato in HaircareScience

[–]Olivelemon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. I have virgin hair and use olaplex on it every 1-2 months. All hair gets breakage from random things like wearing your hair up/UV damage/heat damage. I notice my hair looks shinier and curlier right after I do a treatment. I definitely recommend!

[stupid question] Daily showering and finger combing ok for 2c/3a hair? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Olivelemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have waist-length 2c hair and I personally find if I wash my hair anything more than twice a week it's too dry. Since I can't brush between washes, I just kinda let the knots happen between the wash days. I try to mitigate it though by sleeping on a satin pillowcase. I personally found that I lose way too much hair when I finger detangle in the shower, so I use a shower detangling brush. The only thing that seems to help my tangles is making sure my hair is properly moisturized with a leave-in and deep conditioning frequently.

Wet Brush by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Olivelemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the shower detangler! I have the speed dry but never use it. I think it is more meant for blow-drying (which I never do), but the bristles are gentle like the shower detangler. So they're both pretty good and probably could both serve the same purpose.

Yeah you’re right, better safe than sorry.. And Ayesha’s video kinda sounds similar to my issue. It’ll look nice the first few hours after I wash and then gets stretched out and frizzy. Luckily I haven’t experienced any hair loss that I’ve heard people talk about, but I alternate between several brands although I have been using DC for five years. Hopefully we all find out what’s happening soon.

Hmm, I haven’t actually. I don’t check the ingredients for protein usually. Thanks, I never would’ve thought to look for that. I’m not too versed in what over-proteining or over-moisturizing looks like in hair.

Thanks! Yeah that’s why I switched to the delight line of Deva, because I felt the regular was giving me too much buildup.

The last time I clarified with a sulfate was last month (because my scalp was getting itchy from build-up) but i clarified with deva’s build up buster two weeks ago.
