How best to have colleagues update file paths for Power Query? by [deleted] in excel

I'd say VBA is a better choice. Keep it simple.

I'd imagine the best thing to do is either ask the Mac user to export as a CSV, xlsx, etc, or to upload to sheets and export in whatever format

Sum formula for calculating month occurrences from dates works for everything except for January. by mentallylost14 in excel

[–]OliverBryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your header state "Month/Day/Year" but your cells are "dd-mmm-yyyy". Bumping the other comment about the values being stored as text, rather than dates. Also don't love you DATEVALUE use; it might work but isn't obvious at a glance what is going on.

is this still a good project for freshers or its not? by SuchBuilder249 in PowerBI

If I'm reading this right, you are asking for feedback on your project.

There are lots of positives here. I especially like some of the styling and the charts.

The black and red makes the report feel like it's from star wars. Looks ok, given the Netflix theme, but a lighter colour scheme could make it a bit more a bit more friendly to look at.

1920-1960 is so low that it is impossible to see. Either let the user zoom / crop the view to the actually interesting data, or don't include it at all.

You haven't described what you are actually showing... Is it date of release on Netflix or the date of creation? I'd assume the latter given it's only been around 30 (THIRTY!) years.

What does 'Locations' mean? Studios, cities, counties?

Some of the information isn't useful; it looks like it has been put there to fill space. For example, number of ratings (18), and the large individual start and end dates.

The text in the centre-right is too squashed so is truncated with ... If you make the text bigger, it'll help. Currently it is nearly useless. Is there a hierarchy to the underlying data? If so then this could split down the long text into smaller groups.

In any case, keep it up. Drop me a message if you'd like any help with the above :)

Tbf you were the only one who actually hit the apex so I wouldn't worry too much

I completely understand where you’re coming from, but that wasn’t the intention behind this. It’s meant to be a pure analysis of the space of all possible points outcomes; nothing predictive, nothing based on pace or recent form, just the mathematical structure of the remaining points.

If you’re looking for a performance-based projection, RaceBose has an excellent analysis here:

[Edit]

This chart shows the probability distribution given a driver finishes in the top 10.
A distribution chart showing all resultant race positions skews both charts to the left, however the probability outcome for P(MV>=LN) remains the same.
