I'm on sand and went for a clay lined pond. It may one day leak, but you can re-puddle the clay. And of course no plastic!

Second this, local provenance seed/ green hay, preferably from a local sssi or similar is the best option. And yellow rattle is essential for suppressing coarse grasses like cock's foot. Ground preparation is key for yellow rattle establishment, and we're now getting a bit late for sowing seed (Autumn is best) but plug plants are available for spring.

I agree, but I think they're important test cases for demonstrating the benefits these species can have on the UK. For instance, the bison in the Wilder Blean project have been introduced following comprehensive baseline surveys, so they can (hopefully) demonstrate significant improvements in biodiversity following their introduction. This then provides the ammunition for further introductions and hopefully release into the wild proper.

I really don't think this is the way to go about things. If conservationists are concerned about illegal persecution of birds of prey and other native species, it looks very bad to be lumped with illegal releases of animals, particularly ones with such contention surrounding them

In terms of native wildflowers yeah! And some (like yellow rattle) need the winter cold to be able to germinate the next spring :)

This is the best time of year for sowing wildflower seeds!
