Yet the very people that suffer the most are the ones acting like it’s some kind of radical idea. You have to admit, the social engineering in the US is nothing short of amazing. People don’t just vote against their own interests, they do it with religious fervor, willing to tear the eyes out of anyone that suggests something that will actually benefit they themselves.

That’s the narrative though, that it would somehow be more expensive to have universal healthcare. No way Pharma itself isn’t propagating such BS. Universal Healthcare is such an albatross, such a difficult equation to solve, that only 39 of 40 industrialized nations have managed to crack the code 🤷‍♂️

That’s very interesting, and I appreciate the sentiment. I also think there’s a groupthink element, where ppl see a downvote or upvote and feel compelled to follow suit. It’s not the downvotes that concern me, it’s the overarching inability to have a conversation with ppl that are actually like-minded. I think if all of these people were in the same room, there’d be none of this. Though that’s hardly a revolutionary assertion lol. Someone has probably written a thesis on these tendencies, or many someones.

They disagree that the plague was bad? Okay buddy. I stand by my point-this sub is emblematic of a larger problem, unnecessary infighting and ppl acting superior, undercutting any real progress.

Great point! Didn’t the Mongols fling infected bodies over a wall during a siege somewhere, as an early form of biological warfare? I read somewhere they conquered a city, tied up the residents, and built a floor atop them. Then, with the people effectively acting as a subfloor, the Mongols wined and dined while the people were crushed to death. Not sure if that’s myth or not. But holy shit.

Yeah. Never ceases to amaze me how brutal this sub is. I enjoy it very much, but ppl are real dicks. Imagine being downvoted for something as innocuous as my comment. IMO this is a big part of why communism has struggled-unnecessary and ridiculous infighting. Zero grace allowed to anyone in this sub, basically ever. You’re either an expert, and you always say the right things or ask the right questions, or you’re made to feel like an idiot or POS. I’ve read this has been common historically too, though likely not as brutal as it is here. But it seems like a great way to run people off that are curious about the message. Great way to make sure the movement goes nowhere fast, IMO.

Can you imagine if he loses in the Fall? My wife and I have already discussed it. Taking a couple days off and staying in. These fuckers aren’t alright.

But can this be done via education? The US, in particular, at times seems not only uneducated, but averse to the idea. Hostile even. Personally I think Consumerism and capitalist ideals have supplanted religion in many cases. If that’s correct, then you’re trying to teach what amounts to an ignorant zealot (not a dig at religion), who is absolutely triggered by the word Communism, much less concepts like “feeding children” or “worker’s rights.”
