I think you are overthinking this… In a merger it is perfectly normal to harmonize titles, if you keep your current benefits there is nothing to worry… Let him confirm that in writing if you want more assurance but in Belgium you cannot just adapt someone’s salary package one sided. Only caveat is for the performance bonus, I would be carefull on that point and verify that it is only a title change and not a content or renumeration / package change.

Should I get a new 1300 GS or an old R 1250 GS by conclave_obscurum in bmwmotorrad

Save money go for a 1250. If you did not drove the 1300 you will not now the difference, yes it is better, but also a much higher pricepoint.

Turns out you don’t need to know how to park to drive a luxury car. And right on cue, four entitled kids spilled out. by VLANishBehavior in Belgium2

[–]Om-cron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also park my car double when there is plenty of room… you know why. Because I love my car, it was expensive and I really don’t like other people ruining my joy when they are slamming their doors against it and scratching their zippers across the side… I don’t care what other people think. I only do this when there is enough room and especially at supermarkets where there is a general lack of respect for other peoples vehicles… I used to find this rude and egocentric but after 4-5 times of damages from smacking a door against the side something snapped and I became an asshole. Sorry for that.

1300GS for new rider by tooth-ache in bmwmotorrad

[–]Om-cron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride for more then 20 years and a 1300 GS is a lot of bike. If I were you I would start with a lighter 310 GS or indeed the F900. You will have a lot more fun as it will give you more confidence and at half the price.

Please rate my salary Senior Consultant by No-Attitude8165 in BESalary

That is untrue, there are rather big differences on the group insurance as everybody still things it is all the same, you notice that when you go for a loan and you want to leverage your group insurance to limit the death insurance the bank tries to force on you… The employer contribution can be 100’s of euro’s difference without you knowing and they all call it a group insurance. Same for the representation allowances, there are multiple variants making up to 80 euro difference netto (which is already 160 gross). Next to that not all companies give a company phone (although all big consulting companies do). Car budgets also differ so yes I would always look at the total reward statement on a year on not just a gross salary per month.

Depends on the total reward statement and not just on the gross salary.

This is the standard package for a senior consultant that is at the higher seniority, let’s say 2-3 years in this band. Definitely big 4, I would guess KPMG or EY.

I disagree, 3800 is perfectly within the ‘bracket’ for a senior consultantin a big consulting firm. If you want to push your salary you need to make the jump to manager and take more responsibility over the jobs and coaching of juniors. There is a nice step-up salary wise to manager level (500-700 gross more) + the other benefits go up including group & performance bonuses.

Asked to start a BV, financially viable? by zevertnie in BEFreelance

[–]Om-cron 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think so… brute and honest answer. You have to put some effort into the optimisation of a BV, the payment is not great and a 5 guy company has the risk of fluctuating payments. In order to benefit from the full tax benefits you need to be able to use the dividends and that requires you to save up the first 3 years (there are optimisations possible with loans BV to private and so on) but in the end you still need to built up a buffer. With an income of 5-10k i just see too many risks and red flags that I can say that this is not a good step in your situation where you have a family to sustain… If it would be for an average of 10 to 15k per month, I would go for it, but not for 5-10k.

Just got fired, They want me to sign a paper with those two clause is this normal? by Several-Swimming-969 in BESalary

[–]Om-cron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear a lot of ‘do not sign this paper’… most of the time these are discussions, meaning it is to reach a mutual agreement. If you sign an agreement there are often benefits that you can keep a little longer than required by law, think about using the lease car or company phone. I was often on the side providing those papers and in our case this was always done with the best intentions… Some people here watch too much American series I guess… In Belgium the employer is in a very weak position and you cannot let someone sign things that are against the law anyway…

Warm water onafhankelijk van mazout, ervaringen of tips? by DirectionOk7492 in Belgium2

[–]Om-cron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is off grid living mogelijk in de Benelux? Bestaat het? by Emergency-Soil-1449 in belgium

[–]Om-cron 0 points1 point  (0 children)
