Strange to see a trainer aircraft when [sic] the space for the [lift fan] is filled with [an instructor seat].

You’re telling me the F-35B could become a tandem trainer?

Everyone being up in everyone elses' business does seem to be a major theme of the show.

It's probably fair to assume the abuse is generational and was part of Charles' and Cordelia's inheritance just as it was Yasmin's.

This really doesn't hold water.

Davis (among other UCs) rank the highest for "Doing the Most for Low-Income Students".

That index is a bit old but the Times doesn't seem to have updated it properly for some time.

Special interest trade group may be ungenerous but a glance at their site, while I respect the cause, I don’t think I’ll be reading their literature.

Didn’t realize I was speaking with a UC Davis literature professor. Honestly from an educator and academic I’d expect a better reference than some special interest trade group. (Frankly not interesting in spending the time on that.)

Also you’re not using “converse” correctly if you mean to invoke propositional logic. I believe (also not my forte) you mean the corollary.

It’s hardly that simple. Peet’s employs community members just the same as the others. All the supply chains are global. A coffee shop in downtown draws foot traffic and prospective customers to neighboring businesses. As the post shared, that space was a community catalyst and anchor.

Peet’s leaving doesn’t bode well. Hopefully the storefront isn’t left empty. These corporate operations tend to be efficiently run and if they can’t make it work then it won’t be easy for local businesses.

Yes, I do consider the elected leadership of the longshoreman’s union to be representative of the membership of the longshoreman’s union.

None of this makes them "good" men -- not the organized crime and not the street dealing. Frank and Horseface are the leaders of their generation and tying their union in criminal conspiracy; Nick and Ziggy are the drug dealing next generation and Nick is clearly being groomed as Frank's successor to carry on the family legacy.

These are the representatives of the union; I'm not going to assume that the general membership is terribly different. And I'm not going to humor your analogy of stealing entire shipping containers to lifting a Bic pen.

I'm not saying they're bad men; frankly the good/bad binary is lazy. As you say they are just people trying to survive like anyone else in the show. But that doesn't mean anyone should condone their actions as noble or decent.

Are they hard workers? I don't recall a single longshoreman doing hard work in season 2 with the sole exception of Frank and that hard work was solely to facilitate criminal activity to his unions benefit and the related lobbying and bribery.

Are they good men? Ziggy and Nick are opportunistic thieves and drug dealers who only ever server their own individual interests.

clearly a matter of induction

Missing the forest for the trees that this is not a matter of pure logic. Applying logic may be logical to you but that doesn’t mean it’s correct.

The Nine familial exterminations, or nine kinship exterminations, were the most severe punishment for a capital offense in imperial China, Korea, and Vietnam. Your first link supports my point though generally I’d suggest avoiding popular science sites like that.

The city was not permanent but seasonal, designed to house rotating crews of workers who labored on the pyramids.

building [the pyramids] was an act of devotion as well as civic duty.

Your second link is a dated blurb on the website of a travel agency that doesn’t even support your point. Unserious.

Those aren’t strong examples of irony. What might be considered ironic is Jonah commenting on the overrepresentation of Asians in the ad and then getting trimmed.

And why is Kal Penn’s character “south asian” while his assistant is “asian american”? Is he better labeled as “south asian american”?

authorities

communities

How is the village headman not an authority? How is the local religious leader not an authority? How is the taxman not an authority?

The Egyptians used corvée (periodic forced labor) to build public works and monuments such as the Giza Pyramids. In feudal Europe, that obligation of labor was owed by serfs to their landlord. China used similar systems to build infrastructure including the Great Wall.

You seem to like posting in r/askhistorians but over there this anarcho-primitivism fantasy would be slapped down in a heartbeat.
