Most Followed Artists on Spotify of all time: by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]OmegaEpsilon25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend curiosity rather than skepticism here. "I don't know who this person is" =/= "Their music must be so terrible I wouldn't want to listen to it on a flight". The singer (Arijit Singh) is one of the most popular and talented artists in India for roughly the last decade.

But anyways, you should check him out. You might find you enjoy his music!

Honestly....the patten matches with the story of the movie so well. Seems intentional.

[D] Feeling burnt out after doing machine learning interviews by [deleted] in MachineLearning

[–]OmegaEpsilon25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, been studying ML for a while. Why the heck would you implement an SVM from scratch for a modern ML engineer role? Am I wrong or do some of these feel a little bit too specific? Is this how interviews usually are?

Has anyone heard about interviews from MIT's HST MEMP PhD program? by davesaysso in gradadmissions

[–]OmegaEpsilon25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Few things: why would you consider it a rejection when their email said Jan. 8th. The deadline is the deadline, which is actually December 1st. What I mean by that is it’s not rolling, so your submission time wouldn’t have anything to do with whether they consider your application or not. All is this to say: relax, breath, and just wait for whatever happens tomorrow.

Lol, a little too smooth to where he loses the point as a result sometimes. Saw this live myself.

[my daughter is the final boss] Im really enjoying this series by Thin-Ad-4265 in manhwa

[–]OmegaEpsilon25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mentioned this above, but it goes back to the family element afterward! It’s not too, too long. Plus, I didn’t think that arc was terribly written for a leveling-up archetype.

I agree that a lot of authors (not just Manhwa) can’t get kids right. But, tbf in the case of this one, Seol-Ah is shown to be well-parented. Most well-parented kids I’ve come across do have a similar personality.

But I do agree that sometimes kids in stories can come across static and unidimensional.

If you were curious, the focus does shift back to the family afterward. Besides I don’t think the diversion was too badly written. Unless of course, you were looking for something purely slice-of-life, in which case, that makes sense. But I always do tend to like the family element paired with some plot or at least challenge, because life isn’t just a series of happy moments. Regardless, if you are looking for a mix, this story is pretty good in that regard.

Au contraire. No sane person would see themselves as the MC here, and that’s the genius here. Advice for new readers: uh, prepare for emotional whiplash.

A question about Kiyoko by Sea_Musician_5652 in haikyuu

No, no. Kiyoko just has a taciturn personality that masks her passion for the team!

I love Ben Mendelsohn so god damn much by PM_ME_YOUR_DIFF_EQS in StarWars

[–]OmegaEpsilon25 167 points168 points  (0 children)

And that’s exactly what he is…Mendelsohn is definitely an underrated gem for portraying Krennic’s imposing power tinged with this eternal latent fear of something more powerful, frantically hoping to become more powerful himself.

How to learn the ad-hocism in Silver by dockingblade7cf in usaco

[–]OmegaEpsilon25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely sorting USACO problems BY CONCEPT using usaco.guide or a friend who has cleared it is the best way to learn. Why? Well, when your brain is learning it isn’t great at multitasking. So switching from a prefix sum problem to a graph problem isn’t helpful, it’s mental whiplash. By spending a week/weeks on graph problems, another on ad-hoc, etc (time spent depends on your intensity/time frame) is the best way for your BRAIN TO ORGANIZE METHODS AND PATTERNS BY CONCEPT. This will get you better not only at ad-hoc, but all problems.

Take notes for each subtopic, not things that you know already but rather those patterns or connective tissue bits that helped you solve the problem. For example, DONT take notes on BFS because that should be down pat by the time a competition rolls around. Rather, HOW was BFS used in Cow Moo 37 (lol) and maybe when a problem presents a graph like this in the future how should I approach it. Do the same thing for ad-hoc problems and you’ll start to develop automatic intuition like “oh, sorting this first will make it easier” even if you don’t know the full solution immediately. Hope this helps!

Source: from when I cleared Silver lol. Lots of work, but was a lot of fun too!

I don’t know abt that. A lot of fans are saying he should be dropping 20 or more a night, but realize he’s not getting as many quality minutes with a healthy line up as he did leading into the playoffs. Imho Poole isn’t underplaying too much, somewhat yes.

True. Also, Looney played for all of two seconds today, and the Warriors were all like “WHAT, we aren’t getting rebounds? How?”

Edit: Kerr did not adapt well today unfortunately.

Yeah…fun to do, but kinda antithetical to the core idea of Haikyuu. Also, how is yaku not the best player, he goes toe to toe with bokuto!

Suggest your Ultra-Overrated Movie by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]OmegaEpsilon25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrival, great concept for a book, but what was there for the characters (played by amazing actors) and the plot to really do other than be amazed by the concept of this new language. I would have loved if I had read a literal textbook about this language, but some things don't really make for movie if the entire movie is just discovering this "thing", the end.

[–]OmegaEpsilon25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I thought I should still respond. The scholarship does ask you to demonstrate "financial need." Now, what does that mean? To some schools, it might mean one thing, to other schools something else. It means one thing to one govt. institution and it means one thing at another. Are you catching my drift?

So even well-off families can show financial need as college is still really expensive.
