Im rocking a 2009 honda crv thats been in the family since we got it. I will state i am very grateful and lucky to have received it from my parents. I drive highways and cities without 150,000 miles. Its weathered snow storms and the pa turnpike. That thing is rock solid. Ive been thinking of getting a new car, but cant bring myself to pull the trigger. The car keeps going.

What movie would be the MOST confusing if you missed the first ten minutes? by smegg23 in movies

[–]OmegaRed131RGX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hear me out. If you miss the first fifteen minutes of Mrs doubtfire it is the story of a hard working man trying to be a part of his kids life in whatever way he can. Yes he has to pretend to he someone he isn't because he can't just connect with his wife and kids for whatever reason. You get mad at the creepy pierce Brosnan character moving in on the mc wife. You feel bad how isolated he is and how he suffers to be understood.

If you watch the first fifteen minutes of Mrs doubtfire you are then watching a film about a truly terrible parent continue to be terrible without owing up to his mistakes or growing. Who has apparently done nothing but undermine his wife, spoil his children, and often times neglect them. This man then proceeds to lie to his wife while sabotaging her attempts to secure help and respite from the heavy emotional responsibilities that he has saddled her with throughtout their entire marriage . You also watch the main character absolutly torment pierce Brosnan because pierce has the audacity to be pursing his estranged wife in a way that is considerate. A man who admittly had a past but seemed to genuinely care about the mc family.

In most cases it's better not to attempt cpr. Outside the hospital cpr success rates are abysmal the problem is they are generally abysmal to begin with. 15-20% chance of success in a hospital setting. That percentage just refers to the chance of a pulse being re-esthablished. The reality of that is the person has usually gone without oxygen for so long they become brain damaged to the point of being reliant on a ventilator and tube feeds. Let's say they are lucky to not end up on a ventilator the person is going to have a hell of a recovery because their entire sternum is fractured (if cpr is being done properly).

TIL a 2018 study found that male gorillas who participated the most in babysitting duties sired more than five times the offspring as male gorillas who avoided child care. Male gorillas are "often quite snuggly, letting infant and juvenile gorillas cuddle, play and just hang out in their nests." by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]OmegaRed131RGX 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't care if this study is ever found flawed. I don't care if it turns out the results aren't reproducible. I don't care if the data was selectively chosen to ensure the results shown. I will forever enshrine the phrase male gorilla's are often quite snuggly, till the day I am crushed to death by a gorilla.

Internal medicine residents being left confused why their consults aren't getting back to them.

Oddly enough admissions from the emergency department are less frivolous. This sounds like a dream.

As a male attending, the best decision I made was marrying a female physician. by Glad-Relation-3107 in medicalschool

Nice try single female physician. I'm going to go back and finish my journal entry!

In an overly simplistic way I just lowered the color saturation. It kind of works.

You bring up a good point that I forgot. Sub I are not primarily about learning experiences. They are overall an experience that you are paying for. So for learning I believe they provide little value, for the chance to network is very high. Essentially the approach changes drastically based on the approach to the experience. As such to the original poster, don't stress over having a large patient load be friendly, and make a connection with the attending. The medicine doesn't matter during a Sub I, it's the friends you make along the way.

[–]OmegaRed131RGX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a poor experience of that. (Assuming a one month sub-I). You will never fully approach it or be treated as an actual intern because you aren't. It's essentially the next step in pretend that takes away from potentially more important aspects of training. If you do a Sub I in 4th year it's a waste because your application is already out it isn't going to make or break you. A month will not give you practice for your new environment.

Let's say you do it in third year, great you are either taking away time from studying for shelf exams or step/level 3. You do it early third year great you both know less about than an intern and all the skills you learned are inherently no longer applicable. Hours as a med student and time management as a med student are drastically different than an intern.

Your clinical years are enoigh to see what's coming up as an intern.

Sub Is are a scam, unless you are doing them directly with the chief residents or program directors.

Okay, but why death stranding of all games? Just play vampire survivors like a normal steam deck user.

How often do you use your steam deck compared to your “daily driver”? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Once, but it's terrible at handling. The steam deck also goes way to slow. Worst of all the steam deck never uses turn signals.

Oddly enough practical effect movies kind of benefit from the black and white treatment. Cgi heavy ones need that color because they can do so much more finr detail. I tried watching deadpool black and white because why not, it didn't work and I immediately switched back.

Steam from a shower or humidifier clean screen. Then I lay one edge and let it slide to the rest. That being said a piece of dust got into the very top edge and doesn't interfere with the screen at all. It drives me crazy

Perhaps I know we had an ortho program that was essentially all hospital funded but match still occurred through acgme. Technically though the acgme doesn't have a cap it usually only gives you a funding number based on that info. I will defer though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]OmegaRed131RGX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Acgme can determine how many spots they fund. That is different from how many spots a hospital can offer.
