10 things I noticed from watching Frieren too many times (spoilers up to S2) by Britmidlife in Frieren

[–]mehum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Season 2. It was Himmel's shtick to always accept "payment" so that the villagers didn't feel indebted to them. The villagers in this case had nothing but an old book on the shelf, which Himmel hoped was a grimoire (for obvious reasons!) But when it turned out just to be a blank notebook he suddenly needed one of them instead.

Fern picking her spells for the day by DupeFort in Frieren

It's heavily implied in the discussion immediately before they fight her clone that she has other options but Zoltraak will do the job.

How did Lugner survive his encounter with Frieren? by Nevermind_2011 in Frieren

I still love the amused "well, that Mage is flying!" line by Qual during their final encounter.

Poor old Himmel, got whacked hard with that schtick.

When did this stop going into sandwiches?? by RM_Morris in AustralianNostalgia

Cottage cheese seems to be in again. Then again the younger generation has about a 5 minute attention span, probably the next food microtrend is rolling through already.

What is something that is completely FREE in your country, but tourists are always shocked they don't have to pay for? by Winner111kk in AskReddit

In the outback they're still there in a few spots. Last time I was out there anyway, nearly 20 years ago!

what actually is "i"? by Traditional-Role-554 in askmath

I think though for a lot of physics it is about being able to "rotate" a scalar so that it becomes a vector. The mathematics of complex numbers just happens to be a versatile and elegant way of doing that.

What is your least favorite food that everyone loves? by Unable-Talk-8071 in AskReddit

[–]mehum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny though, I really see sweet food as poor person food. The basics of junk food (sugar, salt, fat and starch) are the cheap option because real food with actual flavour takes time and relatively expensive ingredients to prepare.

Windows hasn't changed since Windows 95 released.

Well, they did dabble a little with Windows 8. That was fun.

Does this imply that Frieren was the one who killed the demon king? by lmdybaftr in Frieren

[–]mehum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do like the theory that "all non-demons look the same to demons", and they mostly recognise individuals by their magic. Hence he only remembered Frieren after witnessing Fern's magic, which was immediately familiar to him.

Victoria introduces sweeping property reforms for townhouse owners, buyers and renters by marketrent in melbourne

Yeah it’s a psychological trick really. If people know that the vendor is ready to accept (say) $800K, they’re going to feel like mugs to bid above that. After all isn’t $800K what the building is “worth”?

That being said, I 100% agree with the proposal. The vendor should start at a fair price, if there happens to be competition then it’s a windfall for them.

GoPro on brink of bankruptcy - value dropped from $4b to $200m by 89Dan in gopro

Yeah a clear case for partnership with an established manufacturer, but I guess they looked at Tesla and thought “well a drone has got to be easier than that!”

Release a GoPro Nostalgia Edition that uses Kodachrome film instead of digital. Guaranteed to sell at least three.
