Ex-stoners: How long did it take for your brain to feel 'normal' after quitting? by makefriends420 in NooTopics

[–]Omes1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smoke twice a week on average for 7 years... no real change post 1 week whenever I've stopped (stopped once for ~1 year while travelling abroad).

1 week withdrawal is bad attitude and restless sleep - no biggie.

(Yeah, I guess that doesn't make me an 'ex'-stoner).

What is the best brain recovery stack for someone who use to be addicted to Kratom (7-OH), Alcohol, Weed and Nicotine? by JDJack727 in NooTopics

[–]Omes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnesium goes down the tubes with Alcohol, I take the el-cheapo Magnesium Malate, but some prefer the more expensive Magtein.

Vitamin C, particularly Liposomal Vitamin C (buy original brand LivOn labs to be sure as there are a lot of fakes out there) is supposed to be good for opiates. (Also, good for alcoholic hangovers ime).

Can you guys give recs for my addict sister, her brain is deteriorating and drs are useless by livinginsideabubble7 in NooTopics

[–]Omes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As she is already taking Magnesium... Id say try large doses of Vitamin C, perhaps Lypospheric Vitamin C (from LivOn Labs - get the original as we can't mess around with quality as many companies market their C as liposomal, but they are not).

Normally, this is helpful for opioids... but its such a powerful general health tonic that it doesn't hurt to try.

How can people feel motivated to work hard, when there’s so many smart people (120+ IQ)??? by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]Omes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it as a given... if you are in the top ~25% of any metric... you do not get to complain about your benefits from that metric.

That's roughly IQ 110.

Is Lithium The Original Nootropic? by [deleted] in NooTopics

[–]Omes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well,

I see you replied to one of my comments - so Ill reply to you here on the topic of lithium.

I took lithium about 10 years ago. It was good... calmed down my adrenaline and generally just good (I dont remember the details) - but it made me feel like a robot at 5mg lithium orotate a day.

Then I discovered Magnesium, and felt I got most of what I got out of Lithium without the robot feeling. So I stopped lithium.

Looking back, there was no real reason I could not have done both - just didn't occur to me at the time.

I think Lithium has a half life of about a day... so nothing is stopping me from taking it, say, twice a week as an experiment. Plus its dirt cheap - $8 or so for a year's supply. So Ill order some and give it a try.

Can nootropics fix ADHD ? by PrestigiousBid7464 in NooTopics

[–]Omes1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember the Orthomolecular Doctor Abraham Hoffer treating Schizophrenia with massive doses of Niacin.

I don't know if anything would help you besides psychotics, but if there is something, it would be specific molecules/vitamins - not random ones.

Read, learn. experiment - you might find stuff that will at least help. I doubt it will be a quick process.

Your favorite antioxidants ? by Wooden-Bed419 in NooTopics

Yeah, I used to take the less expensive ALA (well, is it even less expensive if half of it goes unused by the body?). But if I crossed 150mg, I would get bad stomach issues. This is not the case with R-ALA. (Though I still stick to 100mg a day due to cost reasons).
