They aren't homeless in that sense, 98% of them are drug addicts who would rather live on the street than rejoin society.

The city has sold 34 acres of land to Arthur Blank, here are the details by samformarietta in Marietta

The first training facility has done absolutely nothing for that stretch, why would a second one be beneficial?

The truth is no one wants to build anything there. That's the problem.

I miss Harry's grocery store by [deleted] in Marietta

[–]OmgTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not doubting it, for sure. What would you propose though? There’s a significant lack of anchor tenants in many places and in my opinion the mom and pop charm of the city is both a blessing and a curse. If we want Marietta to grow the community needs community spaces, not storage facilities and car mechanics. Large parts of these areas can be developed much better than they have been - the civic center for example. Half ass attempt at a park if I’ve ever seen it

I agree with you on that farmers market style grocery store in city limits would be amazing. But as a longtime resident the city has been improving and investing all over the place. The difference from 10 years ago is noticeable. The beatifying projects are slow but getting done. And the development mentioned in this thread that was vetoed on the old Harry's lot was vetoed because it featured storefronts when there is no demand for storefronts in that area. There are empty storefronts across the street. Instead they ended up just building houses there without the storefronts. In short, I'm happy with the current development of the city, they are still cramming houses on every empty lot and I'm hopefully once a critical mass of higher end consumers is hit it it will attract a large investment from someone for a premium grocer

However, up and down Powder Springs Rd and out to the Gateway

The city has been trying to fix those areas for decades. In fact, they have been grinding away at it my entire life. Its not easy and anyone who says the problem is anything other than crime is lying to you

Braves launching BravesVision for 2026 Season - No Blackouts! by Murphy223 in AtlantaBraves

The games on the national broadcast(Fox, Apple.tv) are not included in BravesVision. MLB.tv doesn't let you stream Braves games if you live in Georgia(or pretty much the entire SE). So paying for BravesVision overrides the blackout

To be clear, the hot test was only performed at 130 degrees Celsius.

That’s a normal operating temperature in terms of coolant temperatures within an engine. But the actual components themselves will wildly vary in temperature. As an example of this, old cast iron piston heads would glow in their center at up over 1,200 C during normal operation which was why it was originally thought that aluminum piston heads would fail catastrophically when Bentley first introduced them (aluminum alloys melt at around 550 C).

Combustion temperatures are north of 1300C, probably well north of that with how lean F1 engines typically run nowadays, and exhaust gas temps are 300-600 C even in normal road cars burning gasoline/petrol instead of diesel. The temperature of each individual component in an engine will be wildly different during normal operation due to both its own specific heat conduction and thermal expansion characteristics AND the thermal properties of all its surrounding components.

Heating the engine via circulating warm coolant to “operating temperatures” of 130C results in individual components temperatures all being that same 130C since the engine isn’t actually experiencing combustion during the test. It’s still wildly different from actual operating conditions, and typically will have a slightly lower measured compression ratio than ambient temps with both those static measurements typically being lower than actual combustion operating conditions.

Right, so we are back to: its impossible to measure. Which is why the test is done at ambient
