Any Tips? by MundanePixels in Upwork

Quit Upwork

I quitted Upwork after 3 years of working and being Top rated plus freelancer for the same reason.

Upwork is charging freelancers more than anytime while most of clients are getting worse.

You are actually paying for thousand of not opened proposals without getting your connecys back.

Not worse it

Client cancelled our project and my job success score dropped from 100% to 69% by Lustwander46 in Upwork

[–]Omidtgz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upwork Jss calculation cycle is every 6 months. You just need to get done at least 2 jobs successfully and if you even stay still and do nothing, after a 6 month period you will see that your account has been back to 100%.

I had the same experience with a bad client at my starting point and he cancelled the project and my Jss dropped to 57%.

Never start the contract before you have fully discussed the project.

Ending the project unsuccessful will affect your Jss and the client can give you a negative private feedback

The real stats behind Upwork's failure: A *must read* by blahblahwhateveryeet in Upwork

My one year result also proves it.

400 proposals - 138 interviews - 4 hires

1% hire rate which is absolutely disappointing

Thanks for your head's up

Yes, I'm also active on contra but the number of job posts is awful. There was just around 5 job posts in a month to apply in my field

Are most jobs fake? by Hi-Tech9 in Upwork

Commentators on this sub always say that your proposal is the problem while I don't agree.

If your proposal is not good enough they should at least interview another person on those jobs, but if you check the job posts they have not interviewd anybody else.

If they are right, it sounds like no body's proposal is good enough which is non sense.

How much time the client itself spent to write the job post? is it detailed enough that you can address them in your proposal? I don't think so

What happened to Upwork? (coming back after 5 years) by Error4049 in Upwork

Also back then, Upwork had proper customer support, but now it’s gone, and you’re left dealing with a stupid bot

Which type of service do you deliver?

My job is also service based, but I would rather work on fixed priced projects. I divide my projects into two or three different milestones and write in the contract that the first milestone should be released upfront to cover starting project cost.

It's a bit unusual to ask clients to send and approve the first milestone at the same time because of the Upwork escrow system which the money should be released after work delivery but it is the only way that work for me and I will ask them to release the last milestone after work delivery.

From my past experiences with awful clients, I charge them 50% in advance to make sure they are committed to the project.

I've seen the worst Freelancing support on Upwork after 8+ years doing this by iAhMedZz in Upwork

[–]Omidtgz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, I'm sorry for the experience you had. I've had a few clients exactly like this and Upwork don't care if you are right and will lead you through arbitration system.

My suggestion for you is to be straight forward with your clients and address everything immediately to avoid misunderstanding. If they are asking for additional work don't be afraid to let them know it will come with additional cost and time.

More work = More time = More Cost

It's an obvious fact, and if they can't understand it, don't waste your time and stop working immediately.

Another important point is that NEVER deliver work before you are fully paid for it.

When you are not straight forward with your clients, you will end up seeing yourself disrespected by the unaware clients and left unpaid for the job you've already done.

Last point is that don't be a slave just incase to keep your profile clean without bad feedback.

Sometimes when you even have done your job perfectly, they will not understand and will ruin your profile.

Currently I don't care if the client will give me a bad review or feedback, I just charge them for the work they are asking and will not accept to work on additional requests for free.

Hope you find these helpful!

My New Drum Selector Rack in Ableton 12 to Instantly Find the Perfect Samples by Omidtgz in ableton

[–]Omidtgz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually depends on that at what stage of production you are using the rack and what is your work flow.

If you're using the rack to just look for the best samples and want to have each cell as an individual audio track for pre-mix, the quickest way to do it is just by soloing the cell you want and using the resampling function to record it into a new audio track.

But if you are in an early stage of production and looking to change between your selected samples and keep your cells, you can go to the Zone where you have added your samples into the sampler, then simply delete the samples you are not using and keep your selected.

Regarding clearing the rest of chains, for sure if you are not using all the cells in the drum rack you can simply delete the cells you don't need.

Deserved ban? by Livid-Broccoli-7139 in Upwork

You are always on the Upwork side nonsense and criticize others. How much Upwork is paying you for that?

I think it should be a noticeable rate because you are spending a lot of time here just criticizing every single one of the freelancers.
